Is he a December baby?I'm a bit hesitant because he doesn't have a basketball background or is coming from non elite pathways
Bugger, I was trying to remember the 3rd pre requisiteIs he a December baby?
We are going a 36 and 6 list
We have have 33 on senior list. 3 spots available
We have 4 rookies and will use 2 remaining spots on Oleg and AJ if available
I didn't look for him as I assumed he would be 20-35 range. No Lachie Jaques either
I don’t think I’d wait even a second to call out his name in that case.
Vic Govt is broke. Dekka is in heaven. There are no elite pathways in Vic. They're all cracking and falling into disrepair.I'm a bit hesitant because he doesn't have a basketball background or is coming from non elite pathways
Hate to say I told you so (not to you specifically) but I did mention a month ago that writing Sims off as a potential draftee for us based on early power rankings was silly. Suddenly a number of phantoms and power rankings have him in our range.AFL Draft: ESPN's final, top 50 Power Rankings
The 2024 AFL Draft is rapidly approaching, with clubs finalising their preferences and making their decisions. Here's ESPN's extended, final Power Rankings for the class of 2024.www.espn.com.au
Sims @ #47
Not in top 50:
- Josh Dolan
- Charlie Nicholls
- Floyd Burmeister
- Charlie West
- Gabriel Stumpf
- Clancy Dennis
- Luke Kennedy (Added for manicpie)
- Lachie Jaques (Added for Rusty Beam)
Turns out that the 25 guys that were guaranteed to be Top 20 draft picks and the 15 bolters that are shooting up into first round calculations are actually not all going to make it into that range.Hate to say I told you so (not to you specifically) but I did mention a month ago that writing Sims off as a potential draftee for us based on early power rankings was silly. 45. Tom GrossThat's a (lack of) Gross list
That's a (lack of) Gross list
You get the gist of my comment though don't you?Waterman was a Father/Son pick and Harris Andrews was a Brisbane Academy selection, so neither were in the open draft and available to be picked. Goes to show how low the strikerate actually is.
FWIW, North Melbourne bid pick #34 on Harris Andrews and Brisbane were only required to use pick #61 to match that at the time, so he goes down as being the #61 pick, which is completely misrepresentative of fact.
Yep, and my guess is that we'll target one of their picks once the bid comes in for Sam Marshall. Likely there's already an agreement in place with the Lions regarding the candidate picks we'll swap for - my guess is 43 or 49 or one of the picks they receive for trading 27 and 34.They've got a second guy to match who might go late in the first round.
Agree with that, except I think most of Brisbane's trading down will happen as soon as the draft opens - before bids on either player.Yep, and my guess is that we'll target one of their picks once the bid comes in for Sam Marshall. It was a different system - before matching points. How does that work?
We all know that Gold Coast put in a bid for Nick Daicos at #4 which we matched with picks #38 etc.
The record shows that Nick Daicos was a pick #4, not a pick #38 etc.
Think we answered that in MSD, they look to be turning Smit into forward/ruckLast year ollie Murphy and shoenmaker were in the frame for our second pick before we took jiath. So we did consider taking a fwd/ruck or a kpd last year.
Think we will address both of those in this years draft.
Is that from the club or just discussion about who we should take?Last year ollie Murphy and shoenmaker were in the frame for our second pick before we took jiath. So we did consider taking a fwd/ruck or a kpd last year.

yea but smit hasn't shown he is capable of playing it at the highest level. Doesn't hurt to draft another fwd/ruck.Think we answered that in MSD, they look to be turning Smit into forward/ruck
I think both Steene and Smit will play forward and ruck, alternative.yea but smit hasn't shown he is capable of playing it at the highest level. Doesn't hurt to draft another fwd/ruck.
If smit turns out well as a fwd/ruck, we can play our draftee more as a fwd.
Is that from the club or just discussion about who we should take?

An exclusive insight into the 2023 AFL Draft, where Collingwood picked Harry DeMattia and Tew Jiath.www.collingwoodfc.com.au
"Wrighty hops on the phone, with fellow Victorian clubs St Kilda and Richmond potential suitors for a pick swap. If Archer Reid and Logan Morris are still on the board at the Saints’ pick, which sits at 33, Wright says they’d be prepared to hand pick 37 and a future third round selection over to nab one of the talls. There are also discussions around moving back to pick 40, which currently sits with the West Coast Eagles."
"with the Pies now focussing on who will be available at pick 37. Sandringham defender Ollie Murphy and Tasmanian Arie Schoenmaker are rated around the 30s, but there’s a name up higher that’s yet to be called: Tew Jiath"
It looks like we really wanted to draft a kpp in last years draft. Even prepared to move up to get him. Think we will more more aggressive this year.
Like Morris, he went too early for us to trade up to get him.just hope archer reid doesn't turn out to be a gun, or we will regret not being aggressive enough.
