There's a fine line between offering no sympathy and celebrating. Crossing that line gives you no right to any high moral ground.
I genuinely couldn't care less if he gets it or even recovers but nor am I cheering it on.

I really hope he recovers, for those who do die from it or end up in the ICU, it sounds like an awful thing to battle through and I wouldn't wish that upon anyone, even if I really can't stand the guy.
I do hope that this makes him take the virus seriously but its much more likely that he recovers without any major issues, claims he is a demigod and labels the virus fake.

And that second part is exactly why I have no sympathy for Trump. But agree that he will somehow think is is superhuman if he recovers from it and it will just feed his already inflated ego even more

There are still so many scenarios and different ways this could play out. As we saw with Boris Johnson it's about one week into the illness that they will see how serious his case is. Johnson was out of action for weeks and needed a respirator. He is only 56. Trump (equally overweight) is 74. The risk is so much higher for those over 70.
And the US election is just 32 days away.
I have no idea what's the most likely scenario from here but I'll certainly be glued to the seat for the next episode.

Or maybe Trump infected Biden and just about kills him.

From my cultural perspective yes. From another maybe not. Then again I don't believe in evil.
My point is extremism begets extremism. If we continue to demonize our political enemies to the point of celebrating their possible sickness or death you're as bad as they are.
Then again maybe I am just the old dinosaur lefty that still believes in principles like humanism and rehabilitation.

In a completely unsurprising outcome, a foolish, science denying old man and his wife have been infected by a virus because he refused to listen to the advice of people who knew a lot better than him. While I hope that it doesn't affect he and his wife too much, I can't feel any more pity for him than I would for the drunk driver of a vehicle who has injured himself while taking out a car load of innocent people. The foolish old man has access to the greatest minds on the planet, but trusted to his own ignorance in preference, probably killing thousands of his countrymen as a result. Hopefully this helps prevent his re-election.
