Looking at Hawthorn v Sydney game tonight - hawks have 7 and Sydney have 6 players that were traded in. With the potential mass exodus, we could, in reality, trade ourselves into a much better position than drafting.
We were not that far behind in our last round game. Staker, Raines, Lisle, Goose, Maloney (5)

Off the topic a bit but today was footy jumper day for the junior section of the school I'm doing placement at and I saw at least 7 Lions jumpers :). Good to see another generation coming through in Melbourne. In fact, there were more Lions jumpers around today then what there were when I was in primary school with Fitzroy still around!

Been up at Port Douglas for the last week. We lose by 1 and the bluebaggers win by 1. Any player that leaves the club has no ambition. Good riddance.

Unless it's a case of Figjam. Lot's of ambition coupled with poor judgement and errant luck. Heartbreaking :-(

"Terry Wallace on panel to choose next Bombers coach

By Callum Twomey4:09pm AEST Monday, September 16, 2013
ESSENDON will call on former Richmond and Western Bulldogs coach Terry Wallace to help pick its interim coach for next year.
The Bombers announced the five-person panel to pick the club's coach to replace the suspended James Hird.
It includes football director Chris Heffernan, interim chief executive Ray Gunston, AFL Coaches Association boss Danny Frawley, human resources manager Hailey Grimes and Wallace.
Frawley is on the panel as a non-voting member."

Need to get the Positives thread back on the front page . . .

Look at the above news item on the AFL website. Somehow, I feel much better now.

One day, a positive will be how many games in Melbourne we play...#overtoyouVlad

After listening to The interview with Kerr I feel a lot more optimistic about the club. If you haven't listened to part 2, do it before the trade period starts.

Having a look at our list, there is players like Hayes, Beams, O'brien, Bourke and Wearden that I had forgotten about that could potentially push into the 22 next year.

Another assistant/development coach and the board sorted would be nice as well.

A big positive is Jon Freeman- a guy who, like us supporters, lives and breaths Maroon Blue and Gold.

The more guys we have with this attitude the better we will ultimately be. It isn't just about selecting locals but finding guys who want to be here and commit to the club.

Positives were Mayes and Clarke.

Once Clarke gains some more confidence I think he'll be a gun user of the football. He got a perfect score on his states high-school tests!

When Clarke gets the ball this is what goes through his mind.

Golby, Mayes Harwood, Crisp, Clarke, Green, Zorko, Beams, Lester, Bewick >>>>>> Yeo, Polec, PK, Longer, Doc. We still have plenty of quality youngsters. These evacuees don't have the intestinal fortitude to be Lions and have shown their true colours. They will get some close attention when we play them no doubt, and that I look forward to! I know this is broken record stuff, but it makes me feel better to bang on about it! (BTW I am watching Lions v Crows R 21 2012 ATM, and Merrett's dominance over Tippett is a thing of beauty!)

Love the Sauce :thumbsu:

Reading Whiting's article on the AFL site today re Brisbane and its problems would drive a man to drink.
But the reality is that the Board problems will get sorted.
The playing group started to show some very positive signs, and but for an umpiring blooper in the Cat's goal square, we would have had 2 wins over them, the 2nd at Geelong where they have been all but unbeatable for years.
As to the exodus of players, only Yeo was a regular this year. So with some good to middling draft picks and perhaps a reasonable player coming out of the draft period, what's not to like about the future.
The glass is more than half full.
