My non-engineer thoughts exactly.

Must have been worried about overloading the back of his dad's HiLux.

Might have got his mate who builds surfboards to build it on a foam blank, then just tipped some acetone in a hole to dissolve the foam. Instant submarine dude.

If you want to see guys with an adrenaline death wish watch free solo, there are other docos that make Alex honnold look like a safety nut. The alpinist is about as crazy as I’ve seen and meru is pretty good as well but Marc Andre leclerc was something else and the alpinist is can’t look away crazy, a must watch.
Watched The Alpinist last night after I got home - very very good!

Not joking, the actual calculations are easy enough. ( I have a degree in engineering by the way ).
Otherwise gas cylinders would be exploding randomly all over the place.
( containers for internal pressure are very similar to those for external pressure, the original lunar module was designed for underwater work ).

Titan is supposed to go to 4000M , and if that was the case there must have been a flaw or fault or damage.

Metal fatigue seemed to be mentioned. It was thick titanium with a carbon fibre skin.

In my food journey, just had to pitch a burger as it appears my pattie still had paper attached to it and half of it looked straight black. This was a mum and pops fish and chip joint, places to get food from that isn't straight trash is dwindling.

Like how do you miss there being a white/transparent sheet beneath a pattie and go "Ima cook that" then miss it burning? Blind got no smell and no hands?

Metal fatigue is something that can be and should be factored in.
Most F111's didn't crash, because the knew the metal was fatiguing and they took actions.

It can be factored in, it can be monitored.
Titanium is very fatigue resistant, and the sub was not very old.
I think the sub was only ever used a dozen or two times. Wouldn't have thought that's enough to cause fatigue.

An ordinary scuba tank ( steel or aluminum ) is normally filled to 200psi.
Every few years they need to be pressure tested to 500psi and inspected for corrosion with an endoscope.

This submarine was claimed to have been tested to 3000metres, which has been denied by the company that they said tested it ,and in any event is not deep enough.

When you design stuff you can use conservative or "close" calculations. For example you buy steel that is X mm thick with a tolerance either side. You hardly ever see it at the minimum tolerance, but that's what you use for calculations where strength is critical.

Compared with military submarines.
Submarines are only permitted to dive to the "test depth".
In the USA "test depth" is 2/3 of the design depth. In the uk its 4/7 the design depth ( because they can't stop using stupid measurements ) and the Germans have half the design depth.

In theory the crush depth is the same as the design depth, but in fact , because the engineering is conservative , the measured crush depth is often more than the design depth.

From Wikipedia.

Crush depth[edit]

Sometimes referred to as the "collapse depth" in the United States,[2][citation needed] this is the submerged depth at which the submarine implodes due to water pressure. Technically speaking, the crush depth should be the same as the design depth, but in practice is usually somewhat deeper. This is the result of compounding safety margins throughout the production chain, where at each point an effort is made to at least slightly exceed the required specifications to account for imperceptible material defects or variations in machining tolerances.

A submarine, by definition, cannot exceed crush depth without being crushed. However, when a prediction is made as to what a submarine's crush depth might be, that prediction may subsequently be mistaken for the actual crush depth of the submarine. Such misunderstandings, compounded by errors in translation and a more general confusion as to the meanings of the various depth ratings, have resulted in multiple erroneous accounts of submarines not being crushed at their crush depth.

If you are going into a submarine, if they can't tell you.
a) the depth you are diving to.
b) the test depth of the sub.
c) the design depth of the sub.

Then don't.

The lunch spot i go to have what appears to be mince meat with chopped onion in it.
I like them more than i should.
They also make their own dim sims which i like more than i should ( think south melb market ).
They also sell a good portion of mixed sandwiches for $5.00 which my conscience agrees with.

The local fish and chip/small supermarket mixed business i go to still seem to have the whole family working in there on a Friday or Saturday, but last time i went on a thursday it was a strange person, and i'm worried that things have changed, the flake , dimmies and tater cakes were still good, but i'm worried. What if the burgers and souvlaki's are no good?

The rumours of a Wagner mutiny in Russia happening just now could be a real game changer for the Ukraine conflict. Suggestions Putin has fled Moscow.

Would be great, even if Prigozhin is a bigger bastard than Putin, he could pull out of Ukraine and blame it all on Putin.

A very interesting film/story is "the coup" 2006. The story of Simon Mann, ( son of cricketer George Mann ).
Essentially he was a "security expert"/ mercenary, who tried to take over an entire country. ( Equatorial Guinea ).

I'm kind of glad he got out of prison there, because he was a fairly likeable guy despite his ambitions.
Only spent a few years in prison, but one of them was known to be one of the worst prisons in Africa .

My bet is Putin will use this as an excuse to pull out. He’s mates with the Wagner guy, will just do a putsch of the army leadership and pretend it was all their fault. Job done.

Mates in Russia are not like mates here.

The rumor mill is saying that there was a failed assassination attempt on Prigozhin tonight, and he is leading a counter offense against Putin.

Huge for global geo-politics if true and if the Wagner group can wrestle control away from Putin.
