There’s a tremendous amount of misreporting out there, I saw an expert who worked with them for two years saying people are mostly talking rubbish. That is an insanely dangerous environment, you wouldn‘t believe how quickly the light starts to disappear even in relatively shallow free diving depths. Down there it is literally totally without any light, they would have currents to deal with and so on. I think communicating the extreme risk involved he comes across like that but what he’s really saying is hey look at where we’re going of course it dangerous did you read what you’re signing. Have you ever been over a submarine when they‘re in port. They are incredible but we loose one of those from time to time as well, the last one was only a couple of years ago i think.

They have successfully operated that vehicle in that environment and it appears likely that the capsule is intact. Stockton Rush is incredible well qualified and has put his own arse on the line, it’s the new Everest. If you go back and look at the space program which is about as close to this as you can get there have been quite a few catastrophic failures that being a kid at that time I remember very well.

The French are in the water, I repeat the French are in the water.

Well, a robot is, but I digress..

I'd only slightly disagree that they've operated in that environment, I don't believe they've spec'd for that actual depth to know what they'd experience. Would have a fair idea though and yeah capsule is likely intact, not that I think it'll matter much at this stage sadly. Vale Titan.

If you want to see guys with an adrenaline death wish watch free solo, there are other docos that make Alex honnold look like a safety nut. The alpinist is about as crazy as I’ve seen and meru is pretty good as well but Marc Andre leclerc was something else and the alpinist is can’t look away crazy, a must watch.

This sub story has probably got me tied over for a good few years thanks for the offer though

Seriously free solo is a great watch and the alpinist is something else, it’s on Netflix.
I'll give them a go. Good to pass the time while I wait for Mark Wahlberg to star in a film based on this sub 🙄

Deep water horizon was about as thin a script as possible, probably a fascinating story they just didn’t tell it. Snake and marky mark just did their thing pretty much. Yeah I can see that, it will probably be a race to get a film out.

That's what I thought of when I was thinking about them turning it into a film. Also that other one where the deep sea diver gets stuck underwater with no life support for an hour. Last Breath I think it is.

Personally the bravery thing is a bit on the nose for me.

Is it brave to pay someone $500k for you and your son to sit and have someone else drive you to look at a mass grave?

The genuine pioneers (like the dude who made his own submersible to hit challenger deep) are brave (and slightly insane) to me, this is like the millionaires who wanna be the 478th person to summit Everest while a Sherpa half carry’s them there.

Not really a criticism, rich people gonna find new and inventive ways to spend their cash, but braves a bit much.

I dont mind me a bit of splunking.
Would never do it
Love the cavers and people that explore mines etc
Also like the free climbers, legit ones, and the crazy urban dudes that climb cranes
Massive balls
Stupid but ballsy
No fear gene in them buggers

I had one of those urban guys on top of a building edge looking down on the big screen tv looking down to the ground 2 million floors up and I was pushing myself back in the couch
Crazy crazy

Yes that‘s fair enough however you meet people from time to time who are hard chargers ready to push the boundary’s at various things. Now that may well be in some cases because they truly are a bit touched and you could argue about what motivates them, the thought processes etc.. Personally I choose to see people who push the limits as brave, some are pioneers, some are guys writing cheques and along for the ride but it takes something out of the ordinary to sign up for a voyage to those depths or to climb Everest. Actually it’s a really good question thought provoking, what really constitutes bravery.

I get what you're saying but it's still pushing yourself to the edge. Heaps go up and die on Everest and sending yourself down to a depth that hardly anyone has got to still takes some balls no matter how much cash you have.

The obscene waste of money while others are struggling looks yuck but if you seperate it out it's kind of impressive still.

When you have enough cash to buy any car or house you want it becomes a chore. Trying to get a little bit of adrenaline in your life is about all your money is worth at some point. At least these guys went big.

Sure, it’s just not brave to me.

Stupid and reckless sure but brave is a big word and spending some cash to jump in someone’s backyard tinny with a roof doesn’t qualify for me.

Akin to trying to summit Everest wearing sneakers, no oxygen, a map on a napkin and a Vegemite sandwich for sustenance.
Cannot believe their stupidity when every man and his dog warned them this was a glorified water coffin for years.
Remarkably similar to a post I did on the Titans thread.

Great minds

Yeah real funny

Mate, just like them, you’re sinking to new depths lately.
Whatever mate, you're too busy worrying about minor details. I'm working on a much bigger project, uncovering the Simpsons-Illuminati connection.

Deep State strikes again.

To be fair it seems the global community decided about 6 seconds after the story broke that everything about this was fair game.

I was somewhat suprised cause it is a tragic outcome but also 🤷🏼‍♂️ what you gonna do.
I was taking the piss from an earlier post lol
