Having a family feud over inheritance? This stuff really brings out the worst in people.

I had a shocking experience when my grandad died, a dodgy aunty look him to a lawyer when his mind was gone and helped him sign a document he couldn't understand which cut the other siblings out, as my dad had passed away around the same time it meant I missed out on it.

The old fella has been living in Australia my whole life, I was closer to him than anybody. Even gave up GF tickets in 09 and '10 to watch the game with him at his place.

Worst thing is, it didn't even come as a surprise. His dying wish was to return to Scotland to die at home and we all knew exactly what the aunty was going to try and pull, especially since I had won him a fair lump sum payment in an asbestosis claim.

That’s brutal.

I actually found a really complex legal avenue to sue her and take it all. It included laws from Australia, The UK in general and Scotland.

But my mum and sister didn't have the stomach for the drama and I didn't want to put them through anymore stress.

Gotta admit, I would have loved the phone call letting her know she might need to sell the new cars and cancel the holiday plans 😅

Do we have any threads about the Test Match? I for one would expect to see at least three team changes.
1.. Kawaja for the best young opener in the country
2, Lyon no longer is effective. Time to bring in a young spinner
3. All of our pacemen look like they need a spell. Time to bring in the Victorian.
4. Apart from Head no other batsman deserves to hold his spot. Who would you bring in?

I’d like to see some changes but I doubt we will for the next test.

If the incumbents are the best we have then Australian cricket is in a dark place. The bowlers have been bailing out the poor batting performances for a while now, but we seem reluctant to do anything at all about it.....

I hate it when people back off from their rights like that.
Those that like to take advantage rely on it.

100%, but people need to decide what's best for themselves. Is getting justice worth the psychological distress it costs? If not, sometimes it's best to let it go. Especially when you know the other party is miserable and money doesn't tend to change that.

Personally, I thrive on conflict so I would have loved the whole process 😅

Sounds like a stereotypical Scot.

Haha Ewan McTeagle is child's play. It is incredible how often this woman would need to "borrow" a couple of grand off my grandad or old man for a medical emergency, or to avoid losing her house, or for school supplies for her kid and then without fail we'd see her spending two weeks in Turkey all.over Facebook 🤣

The law rarely serves justice or fairness. You usually get something like a least worst outcome for both parties and it costs time and emotional capital to fight it. Sometimes it's better to move on.

I did ancestry DNA and I'm a lot more Scottish than I realised. Most Scots I've known are mean of purse and of spirit. I'm quite disappointed but I'm looking forward to paying back all the campaigners that have turned up to their weddings in kilts because their 5th great uncle was Scottish. I'm going to turn up to all their events in a tartan skirt and play incessant bagpipe music from now on. Might start assaulting bogans wearing flannelette for cultural appropriation and telling all my mates that not buying rounds when it's my turn is cultural too.

I'm of the opinion that the more ancient Rome on TV and movies - the better. Gladiator is top of the heap, as is the Rome HBO series.

The Dan Carlin Podcasts on Rome are top tier, too. Celtic Holocaust for one, Death Throes Of The Republic and Punic Nightmares are top tier.

His latest release (Thors Angels) also worth hearing.
From over a decade ago he did a six part series called Ghosts of the Ostfront.

About 20 hours on the Eastern Front of WWII, the most amazing spoken word podcast I have ever heard
I think it can still be downloaded from his website, at a cost but if you like that sort of history, it is worth every cent. I have listened to it about 5 times over the years.

Dumb things people do...
Get a dose of gastro and think you are getting over it, so eat too much too soon, and suffer the consequnces.
Then lose too much electrolyte to the point that you fall down for no reason, falling down and pushing your foot hard into the corner of the wall, fracturing a toe.

Luckily the gastro now seems on the way out, cos i'm sure as hell not "running " to the mens room any more.

Haha i have categorically refused to ever wear a kilt as long as I live since I was old enough to talk.

History, culture, heritage... blah, blah, blah. I'm not wearing a skirt 😅

Wladimir Klitschko calling out Rogan for his bullshit is a ****ing hoot.

Dr Hammerfist would destroy Rogan with words and with fists.
I made an agreement with my right leaning mates that I would listen to 3 eps of JRE. I'm one and a half down and it's so infuriating, the guy is just so dumb.

Even hearing him talk about evolution, the guy doesn't understand how it works at all. Was talking about what nature's intentions were and what it was trying to do. Brian Cox has had the patience of a saint.

I listed to JRE when it was random scientists on the show, PHD sleep doctors, random physicists, sociologists when it was just finding weird shit and going for it.

I just want the Klitschko's on the show now, Nobody ****s with those brothers

Both are national heroes of Ukraine and doing work right now for a good cause.

Was what Joe said wrong? Wasn’t it just him saying it was irresponsible for Biden whoever the f*ck is in charge to allow/encourage a strike?
Calling Ukraine villains for attacking in war.

**** me dead, a war has strikes and attacks

Dr Hammerfist might beat some bloody sense into people if he goes rogan's podcast.

But let's be honest an actual Alpha male has called out the betas

Haha same, I listened and actually quite enjoyed the show in the earlier days when you could pick and choose from interesting guests, and he'd even occasionally let them speak.

Then over time there were more and more of the 'instant skip' episodes, when he either had his 'comedy' buddies on who were about as funny as he was, pseudo science bullshit or grifter w***ers like tim pool. Then he increasingly started arguing with actual experts or professionals on certain subjects and he just dominated conversations with his dumbass takes, and I couldn't take it anymore. Haven't watched or listened since before his Spotify move, thankfully there are plenty of much better options out there now.

The comedy buddies were the worst.

People like John Carmack won't be on anymore.

Capitalism has ruined another media outlet.

Clicks and revenue are the gods above all else

Been rewatching James Burke's Connections series, anybody a fan of that?

I have had to watch it as a palette cleanser after listening to Joe's inane tangents.
