So decided I wanted to update my modem, got one with fancy features and an app instead of just a website for example. Things is...

I tried:
The powerboard this PC is using.
The Wall Switch in my kitchen.
The Wall Switch on the bench between this room and the kitchen.
The Wall switch in a bedroom at the other end of a house.
And the modem had no power at all. No LED, no connection, no fan, nothing.

Now, I mean could be that I have mad power issues, but you know, since everything is powered and I manage to run not one but two computers, three screens, some game consoles, the current modem and a TV from this power point here, you'd think a single modem would be fine...

So now I'm waiting to get a printer so I can organise a return, and I guess back to looking at options.

I can't believe the fail rate that they get by with for computer equipment.
If it was cars, or home appliances Choice or someone would jump on them and hammer them to death.

I helped my son build a PC from components some years back. Put it all together just right, switched it on, NOTHING.
The only reason we had a clue which part to take back for warranty is that when you looked closely at the mother board, there was a component that was clearly crooked, and when you looked even closer you could see that some of the bits that should have been soldered in, werent.
If it had been something more subtle then we would have had the whole, "which bit is faulty " issue.

Why would you possibly need an app for your modem?

Three words:

Asus Air-Mesh.

So what was it last year, I spent 1k+ on a router so I could have not only full house coverage but also the land since there's dead spots as old wiring and trees and such. So my plan was to update modem this year and have a mesh system since modem also doubles as router to use same app as router as same mesh system as modems aren't just modems these days.

Try a different power supply.

Chicks man......

So last night I gave my girlfriend her year end performance review. I felt like I'd marked her quite fairly. I was glowing in my praise in some of the key areas, and in the areas I felt she needed to lift her game, I gave her clear advice on how to best hit her targets.

Did she appreciate any of it? No... no she didn't. It's almost like she wants some airy fairy bohemian hippie deal where she just goes about her business with no grading system in place.

I swear, sometimes us fellas have to have the patience of a saint.

lol, so just wondering about the style in which this review was communicated? A bit Cuddly Ross, or more like Clarko in 2017?

When one is our age you can't expect people to change. Live with it, or don't.

Please don't commit the sin of low expectations......

Look her right in the eye and be honest with her.......

"honey, you need to lift your game or I'm going to have to let you go..."
