You do realise you've described exactly what it is now right?

Right wingers virtue signal just as much, but they're just different virtues.
To suggest twitter is solely right-wing is ridiculous. JWik is just highlighting those throwing the guys out of the cot are lefties, usually “celebrities” nobody needs nor wants to hear from about anything of substance.

Perhaps the algorithm you’ve been served, but there’s still plenty of different types on there

If twitter isn't a right wing echo chamber then that means reddit isn't a left wing echo chamber. After all, there are millions of conservatives across hundreds of conservative subreddits.

The ABC isn't a left wing echo chamber because they get conservative pollies on just about every program.

It's OK sometimes to go to echo chambers you know? As long as you are aware that you're in one and you leave them once in a while to get a broader perspective its fine.

Next thing you're going to tell me the Joe Rogan Experience isn't right wing like my deluded alt right mates always try to... it's just two blokes having a chat they say lol

What are you on about? Why mention Reddit?

The JRE trope does make me piss, just braindead stuff

Have you seen his standup? FMD. It's atrocious
I have been a hater since I was a kid. Didn't like him on News Radio, didn't like Fear Factor, hated The Man Show after he replaced Adam Carola and always thought his stand up was shocking.

I never would have guessed that he would go on to become probably the most influential comedian of all time.

I'm obviously not his target audience though, not just because of my politics, but I just find podcasts shit in general. I have tried with quite a few and I find them insufferable.

I don't really have time for podcasts. Too damn busy. If I'm winding down late at night I will usually go on a musical tangent on YouTube.

I catch snippets of Rogan's podcast though and I don't mind some of it... some I've turned off very quickly.

As far as his stand up goes though... I watched a bit of latest special and it was just on another level of awful, both in material and delivery. It honestly baffles me how he can watch it back and not know.

I definitely think a lot of non-cis people could harden up a bit about people slipping up on pronouns.

I was on reddit a while ago and I referred to an actor from a game of thrones show as "her"... the actors name was Emma, appears female and plays a female character. Got called a bigot for not referring to them as "them".

When i pointed out that there are 8 billion people on the planet and i can't really be expected to know everyone's preferences I was blocked from the subreddit.

There are extremists at both ends.

Yeah both sides have their inflexible fringes. Plenty of overly sensitive people in the world. People need to calm the **** down generally.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions.

I find that's what a lot of people do when someone disagrees with them. They'll just assume their motivation is sinister. They'll cast aspersions on their character. Anything other than to simply look at what they're saying.

Must be that I find trans people "icky" and don't really give a damn about the kids. Throw in must be right wing.

You might have your kitty litter thing to judge people by, but when people do the above, it's completely pointless discussing anything with them.

You believe a distinction between "cis" women and trans women is important? You say that like it actually means something. It's a completely ludicrous statement. One is a woman, the other simply isn't.

I don't care how trans people choose to live, most people don't. Just as most people don't actually believe trans women are women. They're just too scared to say so because they'll be labelled all sorts of horrible sh*t.

It seems to be another symptom of the internet age. To cut through people use hyperbole to get maximum eyes on their point. People also divide into sides and wrap everyone up in the same blanket. I'm on the centre lefty and don't have fixed ideas about thing so can piss off everyone quite successfully. I won't conform to an orthodoxy and make it hard to know what side I sit on.

I think both sides of politics talking points are a distraction because their policies aren't substantially different in the west. They let us fight about trivial issues that don't really have any bearing on us while they rip us off and degrade our living standards.

Same here. There is no trans issue, it's just part of the smoke screen.
There are people who find trans people icky. People who are racist. People who are sexist, etc, etc, etc. It's called humanity, and it's not worth a milliseconds brain power.

The biggest issue these days is that everyone wants others to think like them instead of just accepting that you have no power to influence them. The more you push the more likely they are to push away. So what if people have a different point of view. It makes things interesting. I'd hate to be surrounded with people that were exactly the same as me.

Those poor girls in Laos.

But some of the reporting isn't so crash hot.
There are a lot of people who accuse the locals in Asia of deliberately mixing in methanol to lower costs. I don't believe that for a second. Methanol is so toxic that if you put anything more than a few drops in, you'd have a club full of corpses in a short time. There is no way you could save any significant money that way. Old fashioned watering down the booze would be far easier and more effective.

I think its far more likely that they are brewing/distilling the stuff in a non-professional setup. Moonshine. Its all fine until they have a bad batch.

The media also report that the backpackers hotel gave out a free vodka shot, in a manner that made it sound suspicous. Even though they had been out partying at a bar ( which is being investigated ) before they fell ill.

The headlines all read "Melbourne Teens drinks spiked" or similar.
There was a whole group , i guess we don't care about foreigners , two Danish girls ( mostly reported as swedish have died ), and many others are not in a good way.

Looks like it may turn out that Alan Jones is a creepy paedophile (allegedly)

Who'da thunk it

I wonder if there's a single person who read that and responded "no f*cking way!"

It's like Jimmy Saville. Everyone knew for years and aided and abetted him. They get to the point that they are barely cogent and they charge them and let justice run its slow course to the point that they'll die before making it to trial.

I was in England visiting a friend and well her friends, long story short we ended up at a random bar in Leeds and as I don't drink cause yay meds, vodka shots got set up on the bar for the group.

I ended that night with my friend in a wheelchair, in a hospital watching her "sleep it off" under observation as I awkwardly slept in a chair cause hey, it got spiked and she was out of it and retching.

So yeah, if you don't cradle that and there are people around, you just can't be sure so best to avoid cause you just never know who did what, with what and when.

Twitter has lost how much of its value and lost how many users in the last week.

It's doing anything but fine.

A lot of lefties seem to be bailing and heading to Bluesky now too. He won the right back and now losing the left.

Twitter is an echo chamber but tailors to your viewpoint. If you are right it will flood you with exactly the same opinions so that you become solidified and steadfast. Same on the left. It's an interesting platform but people need critical thinking skills to make sure that they don't become too boxed in.

Even a deviant would be crazy to spike with Methanol.
30ml can permanently blind someone ( you don't sleep that off ).
1ml per kg bodyweight can kill you.

Methanol is NOT a date rape drug.

Was more getting at; recreational uses recreational, when you go to SEA and less regulated areas around the globe, well, there is a medical practice to use literal maggots to clean open wounds in areas for example, so, be aware of your surroundings is all.

linked article states the group "were offered shots...". This is also why I stated my own experience with such a "shots offered" situation.

Also well aware of ethanol v methanol v isopropyl for example. It's also a "cheap" instance as synth v fermentation and Laos is one of the poorest nations on the planet...

Its cheaper to make, but think about it.
How much could you possibly save if 50ml is a lethal dose?

But methanol IS a side product of fermentation, and can be removed in an accurate distillation.
Presumably Hawkeye and Trapper knew how to do it pretty well, or maybe they gave it to Frank to try first, but what you say about Laos being poor means its pretty tempting to make your Smirnoff in the bathtub , and I'd be pretty confident that neither the fermentation or distillation would be world standard in that sort of case.
