Unfortunately mate it appears she was one of the home invaders and was shot dead by the occupier who was then killed.

Still doesn’t deserve to be killed.

Unfortunately, it actually appears that she was shot by the person with whom she invaded the premises.....as was the man whose premises they invaded. It is believed they were all known to each other, so it is not a case of her being an unfortunate bystander. However, that is of little comfort to her parents as they grieve the loss of their daughter just a few weeks before Christmas, before she even reached 20 years old.....

That’s simply not true on any level. The US threatening the South China Sea trade route, rubbish. It’s the US making sure we all have free passage in international waters. The US has a reduced presence in the region since the closure of Clark field and the greatly reduced operations out of subic bay.
Interesting to look at it from different perspectives, but not always fun, and sometimes scary. The Chinese are investing a lot in Philippines too, over 9 billion bucks in the last twenty years. They’ve expressed interest in the Subic Bay dock areas too, which triggered a few alarms. There was a scandal recently when the local Subic Port authority was said to have a done a secret deal with Chinese investors through the Grande Isle project. You can imagine, even without corrupt officials, it’s a minefield.

Thanks . A sorry affair. I feel for her parents.

They are buying everything but doesn't mean that they are aggressive. I'm trying to say their model is to own everything without resorting to violence.

What they do is buy port facilities and invest in port infrastructures. They do this all over Asia and Africa. In return they get to park their destroyers and submarines there. …..until they can’t…until people say no…but then it is a case of ‘oh yeah, who took the money?’

Now, quite independently of that, they are investing in all sorts of things without any such ‘advantages’. One does not preclude the other.

My girlfriend was born in Hong Kong. Came here when she was 4. Her parents wanted to get their family away due to fear of what would come.

You should hear her parents talk about the Chinese Government. The Mum actually respects trump as she sees him as the only one that will stand up to them.

Look what they do to their own people mate. They're a huge threat.

You are aware that China is encroaching into Indias sovereignty right? Built roads, well part of them anyway, buildings and sent some troops in past recognised borders?

That's not exactly owning everything, and India also have nukes....

I think we could potentially really look silly carrying on about China, our biggest trading partner as we watch our ships of bauxite and coal sail away.

And all the stuff we buy is made there too.

And our stocks and pensions and super etc etc is all so tied up to this

And the 19th century guilt.

And China will have a lot of the same problems Korea and Japan have and much worse in a few decades. Depopulation devastation of urban migration into concrete towers

Yet let’s not turn a blind eye. They are flexing! And they’ve got so much power and influence now.

I remember when they practically stole the Jakarta subway contract from under Japan’s feet. They have ways. In this case it was said they let the Indonesians not bother about insuring their loans. It would be irresponsible to do this in Japan, but let’s cut the tape and throw away the roll!

It’s crazy how much power a state controlled and backed economy has. And it’s ironic in in a world where communism was defeated.

Still, we are a major sponsor ! We are what McDonalds is to football. We can’t complain

One thing about the port stuff.
China doesn’t have to actually park warships there! But it is implied .. And
It means by de facto , US ships etc. might get a hard or harder time going there.

Sri Lanka got a lot of Chinese money
For the port

A good percentage of the worlds population don't believe the Tienenman square massacre ever happened.

I couldn’t give a crap about the Chinese, it’s the government and how they conduct themselves that worry’s me.

My chemist of many years is Chinese, my GP is Chinese as was my former GP before he retired. The Methodist church up the corner that my chemist frequents is all Chinese, pretty funny for an area with very few. My wife has Chinese ancestry although you’d never know it to look at her but once you know you can still see a bit. Her great grandmother was 100% so it’s not that far back.

Funny story she’s very blonde and had white blonde hair when we were at high school with very pale skin and dark eyebrows. I just assumed because of her surname she was of Irish ancestry and she does have some. Anyway she used to get annoyed when she went to the hairdressers and they’d go on about her hair and how it was so straight and silky and fine like asian hair😂😂. Anyway years later I’m watching a documentary about the Chinese museum in Bendigo and the guy doing the tour looks like her dads doppelgänger and he’s white with that super straight hair and he’s talking like Benny hill doing an Asian accent. I had great fun with that for years because his surname was the same and her dad was from Inglewood.

Well somewhere along the line her dad had just not bothered to mention his ancestry, of course it all came out as people started to research their ancestry. It was a relative and even today she has cousins who volunteer at the museum and Chinese association in Bendigo. She caught up with them at her dad’s funeral a couple of months ago up in swan hill.

What gets passed down is a weird mix sometimes, my youngest daughter is 170cm typical blonde with my thicker hair, well when I had hair. She has keloid scars from an operation which cracks up our doctor who thinks it’s a great laugh.

I treat people as I find them and to this point every Asian I’ve ever worked with or known has been a really nice person. Can’t be damming people because they have governments we don’t like, or because of some stereotypes we see in the media. Good people and the other kind come in all races, religions, shapes and sizes.

Likely story, Xi Gringping

Surely this is BS, I mean, everyone arguably in the 20's and up would and should believe that yep, it occurred, same with Boxers Rebellion a little later.

People from Hong Kong definitely hate China and probably for good reason. I'm not claiming they are good guys, just not war mongers like the US. They have a different model for world domination and they are winning right now.

Gringo you can’t be serious with these statements, China were neck deep in Korea and Vietnam. They are becoming increasingly aggressive and looking to expand their influence by any means. Their actions have been outrageous, it’s just dumb luck the provocation hasn’t led to anything more significant than border skirmishes.

Winning well I guess that depends on your definition but personally I’d say China are at or near peak and are seeking to make hay while they can. They have a lot of problems, something they share in common with a lot of country’s right now.

Trump will be interesting, not because I fear a war with China that’s in no one’s best interests. I think trumps willingness to deal with anyone is going to shake the hell out of things. Trudeau’s meeting is an early example, I found that very amusing and a definite warning shot.
