Most of the Centrelink red tape would cost more than it saves would be my guess.

For the handful of people who manage to rip off welfare, we'd be spending a staggering amount more on bureaucracy.

Better to simply it and let the ATO pick it up, and if a tiny number of people still rip the government off for their welfare payment, so be it. It'll save money and those staff resources can be redeployed in far more useful ways.
It's funny how we have so many checks and balances for welfare recipients, but for insider trading, wage underpayments or tax evasion, it's practically self-reporting.

fair chance the referral to the president of the ACT law society concerns annette musolino (who may in fact have multiple referrals to her name)

yeah this is my view

most of the measures we put in place to be under the guise of being tough on fraud, are really ways to syphon large amounts of money to third parties and also to make using the support services as unattractive as possible

its no accident we have one of the worst welfare systems in the OECD

I'd give $1,000,000 to be her employee today and have her ask me to do something and just say:

"Are you sure this is legal?"

There's no response....but if she did....

"Of course, why would you question me?"
"Well there's this report here that says you don't know how to do your job, or what's legal and not legal and if you do, you just pretend you don't. So are you pretending this is legal, or is it actually legal?"

Not sure that's a great idea, she has a reputation for fits of rage.

If you didn't want to be held accountable your party shouldn't have enacted the most neglectful piece of public policy in the history of Australian politics.
It's ok because they're conservatives

Not sure that's a great idea, she has a reputation for fits of rage.
And by leaving her employed, as a rage-a-holic and incompetent, the Govt is opening itself up to all sorts of lawsuits.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a class action by the labour hire people who had to come in to Centrelink and speak to people and hound them for illegal bills.

Let's not forget the public servants. There is a special place set aside for Kathryn Campbell.
There is a sick culture in the senior elements of the Canberra public service of ensuring that your briefs support what the boss wants and punishing "for lack of teamwork" anyone who suggests that briefs ignore key facts or arguments don't hold up.

Nothing. Nil, Nada…it’s a Royal Commission lots of huff and puff but ultimately very little and certainly no prosecutions

yet all hell broke loose when some dumb campaigner climbed into a roof cavity without having filled up on water

This'll tie up the courts, NACC and other tribunals for a decade or more.

Yet another fringe benefit of throwing out the Morrison government in 2022. Had the Coalition stayed in power, this evil mess would never have been laid bare. Imagine getting these slime balls with selective memory to recall something that happened fifteen years ago rather than five.

The LNP Government did this to its own people. Under a leader who proudly proclaimed some sort of close connection with 'God'.

Think about that.

Half a billion dollars to virtue signal to the 2GB crowd.
Speaking of 2GB:

Nine Entertainment, Seven West and the Murdoch press of course reporting on this story as if they had nothing at all to do with the promotion and bolstering of its illegal and immoral foundations.

SCUM.

Oh totally sack her, take her for every overpaid penny she has received and throw the book at her, just don't go provoking her unprepared lol
