It's 153m long. Don't know where that guy got 161 from.

With regards to the thread, I don't know why the OP thinks it's alright that West Coast and Freo should be allowed an advantage by playing on a home ground that's much larger than any other venue, but the Swans aren't allowed to play on one which is smaller.

Because WA teams suck at the SCG. There so many posts from certain supporters yesterday complaining that the SCG isn't suitable for football and it's too hard to find space, yet Sydney players were cruising around and drilling perfect passes to forwards all day.
 
Why is this ground deemed as suitable for AFL? It's dimensions are totally wrong. It's cosmetically marked to look in proportion but it is not even to a standard. With ANZ and now a GWS ground available why is the SCG thought of as even option.

Because it is there, and it is available at the right time of year. Cricket and AFL are just natural partners in sharing stadiums - in terms of size and shape of ground being similar, and needing them in opposite seasons.
