Thats the sim for you. Remember when it awarded someone a Mobbs who didn't even make All SFA?
It seems like only last season yesterday

I've polled a quarter of my career Mobbs votes in the first 9 rounds.

Still think denying me ruck-rover was a good idea, Greenery?

Round Eleven - Mooch

Gold City Royals 10.8 (68) def Ophidian Old Boys 8.8 (56)

The Royals would have come into this game buoyed by a great win over 2nd place Furies last week, While the Old Boys would have spent the week sharpening up after they scraped home by the narrowest of margins over cellar-dwellers Bombers.

The game started brightly with both teams getting on the scoreboard early. The Old Boys took the early lead thanks to great work by Mrs Turbo (26 disposals, 6 marks) and BRAB (3.1 goals) but by the time the half time siren sounded, Cadsky (29 touches, 9 marks, 1 goal) and Uncle_Leo (2 goals) had swung it back in the Royals favour. The home side held a narrow 8 point lead.

The Old Boys failed to turn up after the break, with their only score in the third team being a rushed behind. At the same time, the Royals put on 3 goals (Footypie32 2 goals, grumbleguts 1 goal, and a second to Uncle_Leo). Old Boys found a little momentum in the final term through Over The Post (22 disposals, 8 tackles) in a fierce battle with Zevon (19 disposals, 5 marks) but despite kenneyswarriors kicking 2.1 late on, the home side held on for a very useful 4 points.

Roys FFC 18.11 (119) def by Dragons FFC 21.7 (133)

Roys had a morale-boosting win at the Colosseum last week but were still sitting outside the 8, while the Dragons suffered a narrow loss to the Gumbies. Two teams on either side of 8th looked like an even match up on paper.

And so it turned out to be on grass. Cracking game this one with 39 goals all up in a very even contest. It was impossible to pick between the teams, with the biggest lead of the game falling to the Dragons by 25 in the second quarter. The game rained goals galore with TheGoatBaron snagging 7.3 in a career high performance, and Bonz being Bonz grabbing 7.2 at the other end.

Despite the heroics at full forward, there was so much more to this game. You couldn’t take you eyes off SpecialBruce (32 touches, 9 marks, and a goal) and Blaze Storm (27 touches, 11 marks) in the middle. Pie 4 Life's game (26 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 goal) would have got him in the votes on most days but on this day he couldn’t get near the outstanding 3KZ is Football who had an incredible 44 touches, took 5 marks and snagged a goal. DragoDelph got 13 hitouts, 24 disposals and took 11 marks but his opponent DERRINALPHIL will wonder what more he could have done (21 hitouts, 23 disposals) to not end up on the losing side.

Baghdad Bombers 14.15 (99) def by West Coast Wonders 16.6 (102)

The Bombers were narrowly beaten in OldBoyLand last week - by a single point would you believe? While the Wonders were demolished at home by the Roys. Both teams were trying desperately to win the spoon and the Bombers were sitting well and truly in the box seat. If your cat needed bathing, during the game would be the time to do it.

But if you had done that, you would have missed one of the games of the round. It had almost everything - 13 lead, a ruck battle for the ages between MayTheNorthBeWithU (12 hitouts, 20 disposals, 6 tackles) and dogs105 (12 hitouts, 26 disposals, 4 tackles, and a goal), some ferocious tacking from DemurePrincess (7 tackles along with 16 disposals and a goal) and ClarkeM (also 7 to go with 25 touches and a couple of goals).

Bombers got out of the blocks early and took a very handy lead into the main break thanks largely to iDon snagging a pair on his way to 4.2, and snozulu pinging out 60m pinpoint passes for fun. But it all went majorly south in the second half when Pamcake1 (along with the aforementioned ClarkeM) took control. Pamcake1 was a man on a mission and had the ball on a string (26 touches, 5 tackles, and a goal), and Cubs2Lions kicking 3.2. But it was dogs105 who broke Wonders hearts with a spectacular winner with less than a minute to go.

East Side Hawks 22.11 (143) defeat Gumbies FFC 20.10 (130)

Gumbies were gunning (gumbing?) for a top four spot after rolling the Dragons last week while the Hawks were glad to have had the week off after a pretty horrid first half of the season.

Wow. Gumbies roared out of the blocks and were 4 goals up before the Hawks had been inside forward 50 and by the end of the first quarter had kicked 9 to the Hawks 3. GWS Goose (6.2 goals) and Dory_77 (20 disposals, 8 marks, 3 goals) led the charge. But in the second, the roles were inexplicably reversed with the Hawks kicking 11 to Gumbies 3 with TY24 (24 touches, 3 goals) and larrikin (17 hitouts, 20 touches, 2 goals) piling the pressure on.

The second half turned onto a fascinating arm wrestle with Callums_Guns (28 disposals, 8 marks, 1 goal) and Loonerty (24 disposals, 9 marks) in an intense duel with Mop (27 disposals, 8 marks, 3 goals) and ossie_21 (27 disposal, 9 marks). Falconista (16 hitouts, 22 disposals, 1 goal) matched larrikin in the ruck but in the end it was 5 goals from evergreen Tarkyn_24 which settle the game for the home side, in something of an upset win.

Fighting Furies 13.9 (87) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 24.18 (162)

Furies missed out on the chance to hit the top of the ladder last week after a 4 goal loss to the Royals. The Bears are really struggling and facing a Warriors side on the up last time out didn’t help them, ending in a 5 goal loss.

Bears started this game by running hard and kicking lots of ….. scores. They missed a few buck kicked eight in the first quarter and it was enough to rattle the home side. Cap winning the ruck battle (22 hitouts, 27 disposals, 5 tackles), SSSSSS (26 disposals, 6 marks, and 2.1 goals) directing the play, and Chipmunk (26 disposals, 6 marks, and a goal) doing all the running. The game was as good as over at half time with the visitors 11 goals up.

The home side turned up in the second half but it was a bit too little too late. NaturalDisaster (15 hitouts, 27 disposals) finally got his hands on the ball in the ruck contest and omgfridge (27 disposals, 8 marks) and shueygod (25 disposals) got some forward motion going. Millky95 kicked 4 goals for the visitors (plus 24 disposals) and on another day, ShaunDuggan and his 6 goals would expect to land on the winning side. But not today. Bears by lots.

Mount Buller Demons 14.14 (98) defeated by Coney Island Warriors 18.6 (114)

Demons and Warriors are battling it out at the top of the ladder, in 1st and 3rd respectively after last week’s results. Warriors took the chocolates in a very handy win at home to the Bears while the Demons put a minor dent in their minor premiership homes by sharing the spoils at Alberton.

The game started fairly evenly with sausageroll (9.3 from 12 kicks) kicked the first 3 of his 9 goal haul but ot was the Warriors who put on the afterburners with spudmaster (14 hitouts, 24 disposals, 3.1 goals) and TheInjuryFactory (25 disposals and a goal) taking the plaudits. Dinsdale and Reginald Perrin kicked a pair of goals each before half time (Warriors finished with 5 double-goal kickers - TheFilthWizard, brian_muz, and Piggy Smalls being the others).

cats2rise (16 hitouts, 16 goals), cooney (21 disposals, 6 marks, and a goal), and Wosh (21 disposals and a goal) kicked on in the second half looking to get their side in front but Ocha905 had other ideas and tackled like a man possessed (6 tackles, 21 disposals, and a goal). Demons had the better of the final 20 minutes but couldn’t do enough to get the W. Poor sausageroll. Always the bridesmaid …..

Round Twelve - Mooch

Baghdad Bombers 12.11 (83) defeat Mount Buller Demons 10.5 (65)

Top plays bottom in what looks like a potential massacre on paper. Both teams lost at home last week and would be looking to get on track (Bombers) and back on track (Demons) from this game.

The game started like a chess match, with neither side preparing to mix their metaphors and show their cards. Grav kicked an early goal on his way to an impressive 6.5 score but by half time sausageroll had continued to show his good form with another brace and moginie had added another (plus 22 disposals and 6 tackles).

cats2rise gave his side plenty of first ball from the ruck (12 hitouts, 13 disposals). moginie (22 disposals, 6 tackles, and a goal) and p4p1 (24 disposals, 1 goal) tried everything to get back on top and create some chances, some of which Bluelegs gladly accepted (3 goals). But in the end snozulu (15 disposals and a goal) and norway blue (14 disposals and 8 marks) ran themselves ragged and left it all on the pitch and made sure the last placed Bombers kept the points at home.

Ophidian Old Boys 14.9 (93) defeat Sin City Swamprats 13.6 (84)

The Old Boys top four chances took a hit last week when they lost to the Royal, while the Swampies were coming fresh from the bye. Level on points and tracking just 2 points from dopping out of the eight, this was a crucial game for both sides.

The Rats too the early initiative with goals to GremioPower (20 disposals, 1 goal) and damicky (14 hitouts, 20 disposals, and a goal) giving them the lead midway through the first time. Elton Johns Wig was having none of that and pulled a couple back before the first change.

Over The Post (25 disposals, 5 tackles) and GotTheGoodes (20 disposals, 8 marks) put on a show in the middle for their respective teams, while Braklet shook a tag to get forward and snag a couple himself (14 disposals, 8 tackles, 2 goals). While not a high-scoring game, this was a game for the forwards. okeydoke7 and Rodney Dangerfield helped themselves to 3 apiece while BRAB kicked 4.1 for the Old Boys and was supported by kenneyswarriors and tigerland_1720 with a couple each to silence the Rats.

West Coast Wonders 4.10 (34) defeated by East Side Hawks 13.7 (85)

These two were neck and neck on 16 points, and outside the eight. Both teams were buoyant after great wins last week and would have been looking to continue the good form and jump into the eight.

It’s a good job I’m not paid by the word because there isn’t much to say about this one. The Wonders were awful with the possible exception of BFew who worked his whatnot off with 19 touches. Hawks weren’t much better but maybe they just took advantage of poor opposition having an exceptionally poor day. TY24 and Tarkyn_24 with 3 goals each. Pamcake1 (16 disposals, 5 tackles) and PhenomenalV1 (13 disposals, 6 tackles) ruined what little open play their was by sticking their tackles, and DenieD had a day to forget in front of the sticks (1.5 scored).

3 TY24 2 Pamcake1 1 larrikin

Roys FFC 13.4 (82) defeated by Las Vegas Bears 13.8 (86)

Roys were coming off the back of a home defeat to the Dragons while the Bears had smashed the Furies. Both were sitting in the clump of teams on 16 points, just outside the eight and would have been praying to some deity or other for the win to kickstart their season.

Matera92 scored the first of his 2.1 goals early on but it was the Bears only score of the quarter, while the Roys put on 3.3 with royboy2 (14 disposals, 7 marks, and a goal) and the TheGoatBaron (3 goals) kicked just straight enough to give the Roys the lead.

The Roys stayed in front for most the next 2 quarters thanks to DERRINALPHIL's rucking prowess (13 hitouts, 15 disposals, and a goal) and 3KZ is Football's quality disposal - all 24 of them. But that was before Tandy (23 disposals, 1 goal), SSSSSS (22 disposals, 5 marks) and Chipmunk (23 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal) took charge of proceedings. And in the end it was Millky95's ability to win the ball (6 tackles), use the ball wisely (22 disposals), and kick it through the big sticks (3 goals) which got the Bears over the line by less than a goal.

3 Millky95 2 Tandy 1 royboy2

Gold City Royals 10.10 (70) defeated by Gumbies FFC 16.9 (105)

Royals and Gumbies are are locked in a battle for top four. Royals have it and Gumbies want it. Gumbies had their colours lowered by the Hawks last week while the Gumbies continued their good form. This one has all the hallmarks of a classic.

The Gumbies came out fighting in a bid to erase the memory of last week. cats_09 put on a masterclass in tackling with 9 (and 12 disposals). Gumbies couldn’t cope with GreyCrow in the ruck (12 hitouts, 16 disposals) and tried a number of opponents, none if which worked. It didn’t matter though because the ball kept landing in the hands of ossie_21 (24 disposals and a goal) and NSWCROW (18 disposals, 6 marks, 2 goals) Brenton Davy kicked 4 goals for the home side to match the 4 from Tigerlaird but it was the latter who kicked on in the last quarter - where the visitors kicked 6 goals to the home side’s 1 - to see his side to a comfortable win.

Fred Medal – ShaunDuggan

The Fred Medal is the award given to the player with the most goals scored throughout the season.

I’ve been part of this league since S16 and there are many players here who were prominent at the time, Duggan is one who I remember as having a real mystique and frankly he was a bit of a dick when he basically pulled a “who dis” on me when I made an approach to join the Wonders in the S27 pre-season. Well now we are 427 games into his career, a real life decade and a bit later and we finally have a reason to welcome ShaunDuggan to the stage as he is awarded the Fred Medal for his Season 38 goalscoring feats with a tally of 78 goals and 32 behinds for the season. Am I being a little mean? Sure. I love ShaunDuggan and am proud to see him here etching his name into Sweet FA folklore. For the people of the league, we finally know who dis is, he is the Fred Medallist.

East Side Hawks 13.15.93 defeat Dragons FFC 10.13.73

The Hawks continued their good form in the Match of the Round with a comfortable enough win at Home, PhenomenalV1 and TY24 carried from the middle of the park as the Hawks Key Forward Tarkyn_24 was unusually quiet with just 2 majors.

Loonerty , boncer34 , por_please_ya and indeed the entirety of the midfield group performed admirably as a supporting cast as RU_ managed 4 shots on goal with 2 of his 5 goals coming then to seal the deal in the final quarter.

Blaze Storm and freo84 toiled hard but didn't have enough Dragons come with them for a full four quarters, and defensive efforts on the line by Hawks defenders such as Itsmyshow eight minutes into the fourth halted any momentum the Dragons had found.

Mt. Buller Demons 16.11.107 defeated by Roys FFC 21.8.134

In a high scoring affair that featured incredible accuracy from the away Roys, the Demons slid down the ladder for the first time after holding that top spot for most of the season. Scythe94 was a lone star for the Dees with his 116 DreamTeam Points being close to 50 more than the next teammate.

The Roys featured a comprehensive team effort with fitzroybowiedog and DERRINALPHIL chipping in a handy two goals each from further up the ground, as TheGoatBaron nabbed a hefty six goals for himself. Whilst the lead was as short as 15 a fair way into the 3rd Quarter, and 7 in the 4th, the Roys coasted in the end to victory thanks to an all round team effort capped off by goals from royboy2, Aristotle Pickett and Roylion in a five minute burst to ice the game.

Fighting Furies 8.12.60 defeated by Gumbies FFC 15.11.101

With both teams looking to stake their place in the top 8, this match was a must win and up until the end of the 3rd quarter, less than two goals separated the clubs in a low-scoring, hard fought contest.

The Gumbies then piled on 6 goals to 1 in the latter stages of the fourth quarter to completely destroy any hopes of the Furies arresting their losing streak. CatToTheFuture was unbelievably dominant with 34 touches and 2 goals for the Gumbies through the middle of the ground, whilst DinoSoar and GWS Goose combined for 8 goals for the Gumbies. Furies ShaunDuggan proved his worth with 5 goals of his own, but couldn't get his team over the line with so few other contributors

Las Vegas Bears 12.9.81 defeated by Gold City Royals 14.19.103

The top four contending Royals led the Bears throughout the whole course of the match and never looked significantly tested by the Las Vegas Club despite the scoreline being respectable throughout. Brenton Davy 's inaccurate kicking of 5.8 didn't prove too costly and only further showed what end of the ground the majority of this game was played at.

It was a full team effort from the Royals who didn't have any standout performances per say, unlike the Bears where SSSSSS and Senor M both stood head and shoulders above everyone else, but solid contributions of disposal counts and goals from bench players, small forwards and midfielders like Smartys Power , Mr Cheese , Crimson Azure and MrPremiership proved invaluable.

Coney Island Warriors 26.20.176 defeat Ophidian Old Boys 20.12.132

In a thrilling contest, the Warriors rampaged their way through the OOB's backline and despite the best efforts from the forwards from Spotswood, couldn't match the firepower brought to them. With 12 multiple goal scorers across both teams, none impressed more so than The Filth Wizard who found form with 7 majors of his own. brian_muz Dinsdale and FootyGuy13 all had stand out accumulating performances along with multiple goals for the Warriors.

thewizardmelon dominated the ruck battle for the OOBS, and with the lead at only 8 points halfway through the third, it was anyones game. The Warriors piled on a 6 to 2 goal run in the second half of the premiership quarter to put the result away.

West Coast Wonders 15.13.103 drew Sin City Swamprats 15.13.103

In an exciting clash at The Colosseum both teams could not be split after four quarters of high quality Qooty. dogs105 and Wonders stalwart ClarkeM led the team to a comfortable half time lead but the Swamprats seemed a different team in the 2nd half. Rodney Dangerfield and Jewelsbon struck early to put the game back on an even keel, enter Ant Bear with a crucial goal in the 4th Quarter to have the Swamprats in the lead.

In the end, it came down to DenieD keeping his Wonders team in the mix, with a surging Swamprats team the Wonders full forward held firm and with only seconds to play the West Coast Wonder's akkaps had the chance to establish himself as a big game player...a goal to win, a point to draw, akkaps wound up and cometh the man, cometh the moment, he absolutely shanked it to end up with a draw.
