Not sure - but this morning Tim Harf and Huddo made some comment after someone said - "well Andy said..." and Tim responded - well he's not here any more so stuff him.. And they have changed their sting to include Harf.

Not sure about Schwass - but he is the first non regular fill in to take the time slot... Maybe he was set to be the summer host anyway???

Just a listener hypotherising... Why can't they just tell us...

Andy Maher was doing the show from Sydney late last week because he was at the golf. I presume he was just coming back to Melbourne today so he'll be back on air tomorrow. Maybe I'm wrong.

Heard Schwass this arvo, thought he was excellent.....I liked his attitude towards the world cup debacle..common sense, I thought....then when Jason from Boronia rang in, I thought he was really nice to him, then a young child rang in (sounded so cute, but I digress:eek:) and he was very good with him as well...

He gets my vote now.....I get the feeling he will be straight down the line, and not scared to give an opinion..

To those others at SEN and to one former SEN'er , we did it boys.
Those that posted here undercover or helped to send out the letters.

We did it :thumbsu:

We wont be seeing Maxy's face walk in the door at Swan street again.

You blokes Maher said himself on Friday half a dozen times that it was his last show for the year.

Unfortunately will be back next year.

I think "we did it" is a bit different when a guy turns down a contract offer.

Do you know what the offer was? Are you certain there even was an offer? Why was he cut so quickly from being on air? He even said himself that he was surprised how quickly SEN got him off the air.

Schwass was good today, heard him a couple of times on the Saturday morning show with Pickering and he was good there as well. If SEN could somehow manage to pick 2 people to host the afternoon show, Schwass should definitely be one of the 2.

For the love of God no more Tiger talk,i've hat a gutfull of the Jack boot Rita giving us her two bobs worth. Immediately went back to the cricket, who gives a shit what she thinks!!!:eek:thought wayne was reasonably good:thumbsu:

Research, it's not just a place out past Eltham!

Pretty sure 'Off The Bench' should change its name to 'The listen to Liam Pickering talk up the chances of Mitch Thorpe and Daniel Harris getting drafted/rookie listed Variety Hour'.
Great example of lack of care about all things not in their primary sport of interest this morn by Pickers, Turfy and Schwatta. They were calling for people to provide an alternative to Nicole Kidman to do the voiceovers for our World Cup Bid. A lady rang up and suggested Melissa Barbieri, veteran Aussie and Melb Victory W-League Goal Keeper.
Never heard of her, was the cry from the panel. "Don't worry, we'll google her!"

Edited for accuracy.

Michelle: Yes, good morning

Pickers: How ya doing, Michelle?

Michelle: Very good, thanks. Yourself?

Pickers: Yeah, very well thank you.

Michelle: That’s good. I was just ringing in regards to the World Cup. Face of soccer. How about Mellissa Barbieri? Matildas’ goal keeper, dynamic, great-looking personality.

Pickers: Yyyeeeahhh? I don’t know her, I have to admit. Don’t know about that. I’ve never heard of her.

Dr. Turf: That may be an issue [laugh]

Pickers: [retorts to the Doc] Well I haven’t heard of her. Everyone else probably has! Have you guys?

(all respond with “no”)

Schwatta: Probably be a worthy candidate

Dr. Turf: How are the Matildas travelling at the moment, Michelle?

Michelle: Yeah, not too bad at the moment. Not too bad.

Dr. Turf: Do you follow-

Michelle: I’ve got four children, a girl and three boys. All play the world game as well as following Aussie rules, etc. But, all following the World Cup bid.

Pickers: Ahh, fantastic. Now give us - what’s her name again, Michelle?

Michelle: Melissa Barbieri.

Pickers: Ah, we’re gonna Google her

Michelle: She’s actually a very dynamic player, if you boys wanted to have a look at her. And she played for a premier league men’s team as the goal keeper.

Schwatta: We are Googling it as we speak.

Michelle: That’s terrific.

Schwatta: Thanks very much for your call and have a great day in Ballarat…

Google search for Melissa Barbieri: 215,000
Google search for Nicole Kidman: 3,250,000

No “cry” from the lads and no dismissive “don’t worry” either. Caller, Melissa seemed pretty happy with the response she received.

The Saturday morning hosts simply didn’t know who this female soccer player was, and probably didn’t follow up because, hmmm…as Pickers would say: “give us a spell.”

To be fair - if you asked 10000 people who she was I would doubt if you would get 5 people who knew who she was.

Pretty ridiculous suggestion really.

Yeah that's a fair enough suggestion, but the point i was making in a round about way is if SEN employ* presenters that have little interest in expanding their 'sporting' horizons then they will be delivering an inferior product. (in my opinion!)

*I wouldn't have a clue how much they all get paid but i'd guess that the bulk of presenters would earn more from a primary employer/own business than they do at SEN.

I'm with you, dont know who she is and wouldn't give a stuff if Pickers and Dr Turf didn't either. Dr Turf seems to be a pretty informed man on lots of topics sporting and non sporting and he is entertaining. I'd rather listen to more of him on SEN.

Jim Wilson for the afternoon slot !!!

I'm serious, he'd be great at it :D :D

No thanks. Having heard him a few times with Hinch he is ordinary and when its not afl he doesnt have much of an idea.

Rita is one of the best talents at the station and you seem to care what she thinks with all the posts you have about her.:D Wayne Schwass was good today and so was Scott Gullan. Wouldnt mind hearing more from him at the station as well. Would be great if Schwatta got the afternoon job. I'm a bit biased but I think he'd do better than Harford.

Just listenning to him (Schwatta) - I dont htink he has any sense of humour or the ability to 'take the p***' That is where Harf would be better.
Over time, if Maxie was boring, I recon Wayne would be to. I agree the way he treated Jason from Boronia and the kid was great, but he cannot fill 4 hours every day with that...

Macquarie buying SEN and 3MP today, Steve Price quitting 2UE today, coincidence? I think not, looks like either SEN will be changing and 3AW will have a new competitor, or its 3MP gone, or both.

Rumours that Neil Mitchell may leave 3AW and join the Macquarie venture.

Pacific Star have hinted at a re-launch of its stations later in the year but have not released any details.

Could either be the end of SEN in its current format or SEN could benefit from the influx of cash into the station.

You could imagine that Macquarie would be after some big names and their could be some nervous presenters at the station.

Macquarie currently run a talk station and easy listening station in Sydney, a similar format in Melbourne could see the end of SEN

Someone give Turfy his own show and get them to give him a TV show while they are at it.

Just imagine no SEN.....it would be so boring to have to listen (no I couldn't!) to 3AW or the likes...

Perhaps a bit of POSITIVE talk on here might be good.....or we could well end up with nothing:rolleyes:

Article on The Aged website suggests its 3MP they would be looking to transfer into a talkback station.

Singleton is a massive sports fan and has appeared on SEN a few times. I doubt that it will go - if anything it will be revamped upwards.

The ratings are fine for the demographic its pitching to. They've probably seen an opportunity to get some better quality (and paying) advertisers on.

I don't know however if it would make sense to have a Sports Talk (as SEN is virtually at the moment, at least on the main platform) AND a general talk station in the same family. I reckon if Singo wants to make money out of this he'll change SEN back to a 3AK type setup and keep 3MP as is. Hope it's not the case but that would make the most logic if I was running a business.
