I think you are forgetting something...US troops occupy territory in Syria. It is estimated that there are 900 there, with the stated purpose (under Trump I) of stealing Syrian oil.

It is not just a question of what Iran and Russia will do, but far more so what the US (and their sidekick Israel) will do.

The US proxy force, the Syrian Democratic Forces, are involved in the current offensive which has overthrown Assad.

The US has issued a statement categorically denying its involvement in the offensive. This statement is not worth the audio bytes which it took to announce.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the IDF on Sunday to seize control of the buffer zone between Israel and Syria, located in Syrian territory. The IDF announced on Sunday morning that troops had entered the zone, which has been demilitarized under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

"This agreement has collapsed, Syrian soldiers abandoned their positions," Netanyahu said, speaking near the border. "We will not allow any hostile forces to establish themselves at our border..."

Where the plane went dark is in the vicinity of Al-Qusayr airbase but that is now in the hands of rebels.



Maybe the Syrian AF pretended it was landing at Al-Qusayr, disabled the transpoder just before landing and flew off to a destination unknown. But you would imagine this aircraft landing anywhere would have been noticed.
