Interesting we lose talls in Kepler & Gumby in the offseason and we replace with more mids. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned that players on the cusp of selection might look for opportunities elsewhere later on if the queue is so big to get a midfield spot.

I don't want to share in the meltdown, but I agree. Even just one would've appeased me. The ones we wanted were obviously picked up earlier. Bit odd we passed on Durdin.

Weller was being discussed as a top 5 possibility, and we're weak for pace, run and ball use in our midfield. It's a nice fit actually. Lever and Durdin (EDIT: Goddard too!) were both there, and we left them both on the table to pick up Weller. Suspect the club couldn't believe their luck that he slipped that far and had to pull the trigger.

Looks like a real talent, with no go-home factor to worry about.

I like all the players we picked up. Weller is super classy, Blakely is hard as a cats head and very smart with the ball.
Landon looks poised, pacy and dangerous around goal and DeLuca is X factor and tough as well.
Bummed we didn't get Durdin or another tall defender but I think we are going to like seeing Weller running the lines at Subi.

Guys like Clancee, De Boer, Duffy, Mora and Suban would be feeling a bit of pressure I suspect.

I like all the players we picked up. Weller is super classy pretty friggin' quick too from the bits I've seen, Blakely is hard as a cats head and very smart with the ball.

Weller looks really, really good. Was really hoping we'd get midfield class and/or pace with our first rounder so pretty stoked.

On the face and being a misinformed dickhead it seems this year we might have done better with our earlier picks than later picks when the opposite has been true in recent years.

Our early picks are higher profile than in previous years

I am not as panicked as I was before we had Apeness Taberner and Pearce. It was a lean couple of years there for KPPs

I had a chuckle when we grabbed Weller when 3 tall defenders were available. I think we've been hurt by poor professionalism which has resulted in us grabbing some of the best preparers in the game. Weller had the lowest skin folds of any player and is super professional, Blakeley comes from an elite football background and is also someone who leaves no stone unturned.

I think it was a clear shift in focus.

I think Port are the bench mark. They're all about speed and quick ball movement.

They have 1 key forward, Shulz and another tall forward in Westhoff.

Freo have Pav (and eventually Apeness) as well as Tabs not to mention arguably the best small forwards in the comp at their feet.
