Hurts to support a team that is a laughing stock to opposition supporters. Not because of a traditional rivalry or some petty crap, but they laugh because they realise your club is a dysfunctional basket case on track to becoming completely irrelevant.

Sure the AFL haven't dealt us a great hand with the expansion clubs and removing support, but we don't seem to have an ability to solve any of our own problems. Rabble of a board, no solution in sight for acceptable training facility, list issues set to be further compounded with retirements and player exits and a dwindling fan base.

Might sound reactionary after last night, but a loss just brings us back to the reality.

I love Leppa and believe he is the right man for the job.

One element of his philosophy I don't like is he doesent 'dare to dream' so to speak.

He spoke about this string of games as being one where they identified an opportunity some winnable games, as if his message was 'we can't really win these games' before that. He looked frightened in the interview before the game and said 5-6 times how tough it was going to be, then said in the presser he expected these sorts of performances.. I feel he is trying to be realistic, but it comes across a little bit defeatist

With the exception of the expansion sides - many of the sides not in contention are searching for "The One" to lead them to the promised land and signal the dawn of a new age. "The One" is a key forward, Carlton, Richmond, Saints (post St Nick) are all actively talking about it. I hope the lead recruiter has M&M on his Ipod and he lives some of the lyrics in "Lose Yourself" - "You only get one shot do not miss your chance to blow opportunity comes once in a a lifetime".

Some of our blokes need to pull their head in and get some serious direction from the coaching staff in no uncertain terms.
Screaming for an effective forward and superman to save the day won't help a club that doesn't have a positive culture and direction from the top down.

We are a leaderless rabble short on confidence and hopeful opportunity that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
If the AFL didn't hear the last shallow gasps of a club in trouble last night than they are either deaf or ignorant.
The AFL needs to be a specialist doctor in helping us get the penicillin shot we need to start looking like a stable club that people want to be part of and support.
That crowd last night was dismal and a worrying sign from the general public that we are sick - granted GWS doesn't have a large supporter base. They will get numbers signed up quicker than us though if something insn't done and quick.

The AFL saying they dropped the ball a few years ago does not cut it for me. They haven't done anything yet to indicate that they are going to pick it up. We are a frontier club too.

End of spray.

12,700 is laughable. After the Richmond game, it was painfully clear that 15,000 was as much as we were likely to contribute to a crowd for a night match.

How the club didn't realise this and run promotions on radio for ticket giveaways, send free tickets to junior clubs (Under 14's and Under 16's as the target age) and senior clubs, is beyond me.

The flip side to that coin is, at least there were so few people to see that performance.

The problem with playing a team like the Giants, besides obviously the low supporter presence they bring to the game, is the fact the result is a bit lose/lose. If we beat them - whatever, so we should've. If we go down - the club is in tatters. Not much appeal to show up when that's the case.

Yeah but I'd still rather lose by winning.

You clearly have never had tonsillitis.

I have actually had it around 30 times in my life (I get it about once a year) - probably more experienced than anyone in the history of the world to comment on it (a bit of exageration never hurt).

Yeah it can be a bit debilitating but if you absolutely have to you can play sport with it. I know I have and I think thousands of professional sportsmen would have as well.

(obviously there are different degrees of sore throat / throat infection - but still, it is hard for me to not picture it as being a weak decision)

New vent here. Has anyone heard rumours of Aish not being happy & wanting out as soon as he can? Almost fell over today when listening to SEN & heard the guys talking about it Andy Maher, Rohan Connolly etc. Never heard anything about it prior to today. Normally wouldn't pay too much attention to rumours, but don't think I could take it after last years exodus. I understand he is contracted till the end of 2015. Did the club extend his contract at the start of the year or did that not go ahead?

Mother of god. Does Brisbane have funny tasting water and ugly women or something? No more homesickness please! For the love of god! Please! No more! Just give us a good 4 year block of retaining all our players... is it that hard!

Wish there was a positive rumor about our club for once :(

I know these sorts of posts get shot down in flames, Ala - "Mayes not looking happy on draft night".... However, IMO - aish looks bloody depressed everytime I see him. I have grave concerns for his levels of contentment at the club. Wonder where those rumors are coming from? Would love to hear what was said.

Wasn't there the one where Patton was going to come to our club?
