There's something funny about these close Hawthorn wins...

I know it wasn't your intention but many will take the above as gospel as apparently many believe free kick counts should be even in every game

Not at all. All games will differ.
Over 6 years of west coast averaging 3.27 extra frees a game is an alarming trend.
The team with the next highest free kick + trend is a long way back with north melbourne @ 1.05 a game.
#freekickhawthorn ??? Maybe not.

Bizarre thread :)
Hawthorn win close games because their pressure goes up. They win close games because they refuse to roll over and die when behind. They win games because they think they can win close games. They win close games because they practice how to win close games.
Get those bloody pesky reasoned, intelligent arguments out of here, this is Bigfooty! We only want irrational, baseless 'dems Hawks is favoured by da umps, freekickhawthorn' style rantings and ravings.....

A little bit of venting, a little bit of indulging my imagination a little bit. I don't know though, it just strikes me as strange how it's happening so much though.

It's probably better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Learning not to give away free kicks is an alarming trend? Well it's certainly not a trend that will catch on at Freo.

I'm not sure if many posters have read this yet:

https://www.bigfooty.com/news/2016/07/close-wins-have-nothing-to-do-with-club-culture/

The maths are interesting, but if you're a TL;DR poster then it boils down to this - Hawthorn won only 1 out of 5 close games last year, they've won 5 out of 5 this year. If you look at all clubs there is no correlation between a team being good, having a great culture etc and winning close ones. It would also appear to debunk the conspiracy theories.

Anyway, worth a read if you're one of the objective BF posters who has no axe to grind against a particular team. Both of you. ;)

If this isn't the worst main board thread ever I'd hate to see the competition, because this is truly a piece of fecal matter.

Oh, and I hate Hawthorn.
