Car insurance.

Premiums up from $500 to $850. Diamond discount, rating 1 for life, etc bullshit.

Total insured $4800 (down from $5600) with a $1300 excess. So the maximum they'd pay out is $3500.

Went to carsales and looked at identical cars to mine, ranged from $15000 (mint, dealer, low km) to $7000 with only five cars below $10000. One of those was "below market value" and the $7000 basket case was "well below market value."

Thieving ****s.

I guess I'd better see how much "market value" coverage would cost. I'd still be paying over $400 just for third party coverage.

I've been told never to pay more than 10% of the market value. Go on Finder and get the best deal on extended third party.

In contrast to the above, i just fell over. My contents insurance at the place i am renting has fallen since last year. Down 23%.
Amount insured went up 2% (100k even to 102k)
And my excess went up from $750 to $850.
But i am shooked.

Only thing i can think of is that i no longer use this company (youi) for house and landlord insurance at my property (moved to a specialist insurer via a broker), and they are trying some goodwill to get me back?!?

Yeah my home and contents went up $1200. I immediately looked for a new insurer.
Ours went up about $600 and they are still a few hundred cheaper than everyone else

I found Budget to be by far the cheapest.
Budgetdirect?? That’s who we are with already and yes alot cheaper than everyone else. We were expecting a rise given our region was flooded last year so there would have been tonnes of insurance jobs.

Might be worth double checking the policy

You’ll probably find there is a heap of stuff they’ve removed from the cover
Bushfire , Flood ?

Shrinkflation remember !

Ours came through the other day. Uo about 20% in spite of the value of the car (and this the amount the have to pay out) going down.

It’s an absolute rort.
