Jeezus what is your issue with older folk. Did your parents buy you a pair of thongs instead of a bike for Xmas

Yeah they are called grey nomads for a reason.

Ignoring the fact that caravanning is way more popular with older people than young, most people who work full time only really have 2-3 weeks off per year when you take out the Christmas break. Those with kids try to take holidays that coincide with school holidays for obvious reasons. Those without kids (like me) try to avoid school holidays because it tends to be busier and more expensive. I can drive to Dunsborough in 2-3 hours most days. First Friday of school holidays or Easter Thursday? Forget it. Plus why would I want to be somewhere full of kids at the expense of someone with kids who really wants to be there?

If "older folk" keep doing dumb selfish shit I'll keep observing it. I've explained to my own father multiple times that if you are going to go to a large and very busy shopping centre at lunch time on a Saturday then don't be surprised that it is chock a block and you can't park, it's full of loud children etc. But hey, Coles is only open 7 days and 80 hours a week. You wouldn't want to go there at 10am on a Tuesday or something when it's quiet and nice.

and most grey nomads head north and it’s normally during the colder months. I’m sure they don’t enjoy school holidays either

Think the dumb selfish shit applies across the board but boomers obviously trigger you so will leave you at it going forward

On the SRP board boomers are pretty much responsible for everything wrong with the world.

Yeah most caravaning grandparents aren't clogging up the roads during peak periods.

I enjoy camping but staying in caravan parks or campgrounds is something I refuse to do. Whatever an old person is that tours around but stays in hotels is called is what I will be.

Love caravan parks and camping grounds - could easily do a trip around Aus with a caravan on the back (we were brought up camping each christmas holidays so its ingrained i guess)

Grey Nomads would be making their migration back to Victoria for the summer after spending the Victorian Winter up north - good on them

Lady at work wanted 7 weeks off a couple of years ago to go back to India. She had been saving her A/L up for a long time. She was told 4 weeks max. She just took the 7 weeks and when she got back Im pretty sure work just said "Well allow it this time but next time limit it to 4 weeks" lol

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app

I remember when campervan holidays were a cheap alternative holiday to do. Nowadays its no cheaper than just hiring a car and staying in motels and cabins and air bnbs

Most caravan parks are better these days though - more kid friendly. Got to a Big4 caravan park and will get a pool, jumping pillow, games room etc - maybe $50-$100 a night - depending on when you go. Im going away for 2 weeks this christmas holidays, costing me around $900 and then another week elsewhere for $400

A friend had one at the snow we would go there to go skiing.
Still a big drive every day up and down the mountain so it wanst that great.
Drove around Europe in a combi was excellent and bought a tent and stuff and drove around the US which was fun too (did mainly motels, tent for national parks and reservations only)

I like the idea of camping in theory. I’ve tried so hard to like it. I’m not really a person with expensive tastes so roughing it is fine but,..

It’s always so friggen cold! Every time. I hate it.

And noisy! I find campers to be really inconsiderate, kids screaming around from like 5 am. Yeah nah..

It's not even that good in theory.
