Isn't that the trade off for teachers though - shitloads more leave than the rest of us but you have to take it at certain times.
We have long service leave like anyone else.
Fairly certain the principal cannot say no.

Yeah good luck getting that approved.my gf has work (a school) grilling her about 1 wednesday off she asked for in mid december, looks like they wont approve it. such a load of bull shit, its one day and at that time of year she wont even be teaching they'll be doing end of year wrap up activities. would have been better off not asking and just calling in sick that morning but no we had to do the right thing. pricks.
also we are trying to sort a holiday for next year, if they wont give her one day then i dont like her chances of getting 2 months off to travel europe.
i understand the 2 month one, though i am still entitled to have it shit me when i can get leave any time of the year. i aint a teacher. i dont wanna go to europe in winter.Yeah good luck getting that approved.
Go for 6 weeks over Christmas. Problem solved.
Not like neither of you didn't know she had structured holidays every year...

Well aware lol.Holidaying on school holidays - More people and more expensive - couldnt think of anything worse
We went down south for the week before the last school holidays. Was bliss. On our way back on the Friday we were counting all the caravans heading the other way. Gave up when I hit 150 and we weren't even halfway..Holidaying on school holidays - More people and more expensive - couldnt think of anything worse

With kids we try not to go away on school holidays - just take a week off during school, no crowds etc. Gold Coast was reasonably quiet and the theme parks were awesome, could do anything easily (water slides - no lines, roller coasters - small lines, Seaworld shows, no lines and front row). That trip ended over easter weekend, we went home the Saturday and the difference between the thursday and good friday was incredible - crowds just on the main drag tripled easily.
I think they made that illegal in Britain. Parents take their kids out for X weeks = school's got kids X weeks behind when they get back.
The kids are well ahead in school and we always talk with their teacher beforehand to see if they want them to do any school work while we are away (kids are in primary school so if they are ahead there isnt really any issue)
BINTANG!!Taking kids out of school for a week here or there isn't the end of the world but it's a lowest common denominator thing. As soon as one family with well behaved, well performing kids are allowed to do it once, Karen will expect to take her 3 kids to 3 different fathers to Bali each term when it's 'cheaper than school holidays aye'.

There are a lot of mums at our school named Karen
I'm sorry, you'll need to be less subtle with your classism.
I bet half those caravans were retirees able to go down South all 52 weeks of the year that chose to go down during school holidays to annoy everyone else by clogging up the roads doing 20 km/h under the limit then complaining that the bakery and shops are busy.
