Some of you will say this is premature or shouldn't/cant be done but a message needs to be sent to him. He has been putrid for a while now and talent alonee only gets you so far.

He has looked lazy, disinterested and is just not giving a yelp. He has 3000 times the ability of Browne from Richmond but was soundly beaten by him.

With Hille and Bellchambers in the team we can afford to give him a spell in the 2's until he gets that spark back.

Id try one more thing before doing that.

Play him where he wants to be played - in the ruck. Melbourne will probably still be Jamer down - the perfect opportunity to tell Ryder he is rucking 80% of the game and you better be prepared to bust a gut if you want to stay in the team.

Starting him in the ruck automatically puts a rocket up him, he cant start asleep like he does deep forward.

It may sound harsh/stupid, but for team balance replaceTbell with Hurley, keeping only Hille as the ruckman in the forwardline.

We are simply looking too cumbersome to me.

I couldn't agree more. I don't think Patty looks comfortable with Hille and Belly in the team. He seems all at sea, and our forward line looks too slow with the 3 ruckmen there. I don't think it's worked overall with the 3 rucks, and I think it's very dicey to have the 3 play, especially if we have Hurley and Crameri in the forward line as well.

He doesn;t look comfortable playing forward.

He's at his best when he's allowed to roam free around the ground.

Not sure where this leave things to be honest.

This! :thumbsu: He looks despondent and needs something to bring back that desperation - like ruck for 90% of the game.

He's not a permanent forward and T-Bell's introduction has thrown him out. However, you can't replace him because there's isn't a better option in the VFL. Gumby? Injured. Carlisle or Steinberg? Not doing enough to push him out. Bringing in Hurley into the forward line could have him in trouble - but I can't see the match committee dropping him.

Something needs to be done with Ryder I agree.. At the moment he is lost at sea.
Perhaps we could play him at CHB for a while, or perhaps on ball ruck roving, on the wing could also work.

He's a ruckman being played out of position. He is NOT a forward. He doesn't know where/when to lead and he can't take a contested mark to save himself. He's got no place in the forward line.

Play him in position. Let's not have another Kepler Bradley here.

I don't get how he was soundly beaten.

Whenever he was in the middle we were winning clearances. He got 22 hitouts.

We won the clearances 50-28. That's a smashing in anyone's terms.

I agree, he was probably the best ruckman (on actually rucking) on the ground last night considering his output whilst playing there.

Did 0 up forward, but when in the ruck, we seemed to be winning all the clearances, and really dominated the taps. Rucking at stoppages obviously not as good as its more body on body, but still broke even at least imo. And took a terrific grab in the centre. Seemed to be little flashes from him just not 4 quarter effort or consistency.

Won't be dropped... even when he is out of form it still takes a decent oppostion player to shut him down.

Would like to see him play for Bendigo next week just to try and get some confidence back.

Maybe it would be a good idea to make him our main ruckman again, have Bellchambers as our 2nd ruckman/ resting forward and just leave Hille in the forward line.

question needs to be asked? when has Paddy played his best football. Showed something at CHB a few years ago but really showed us he could play when he had the responsibility to take ruck duties when Hille went down with injury.

Said not to like playing in backline, well bad luck son!!! Show us your not just a promising footballer...

He has said he loves playig in the ruck and that is where he plays his best footy. Just doesn't seem to be loving his football a the moment! This is one of those times when our coaching panel needs to show what they are made of in regard to player and team management!
