On what basis? You must be blowing smoke out of your ass.

Both results this year point to the opposite, as well as the fact your travel excuse is a load of crap considering their preperation was worse the first time you met and they still won! I'm generally a big fan of the Eagles and how they go about their footy, I especially love Cousins and Judd, they are awesome. However, if you can't be humble and accept that another side might just be better than yours, then you're full of it.

Ahhhhhhhhhh no.

A sapped team still recovering from last week at the Gabba too knackered to get the ball up front the way they know they can is what got exposed.

you are embarrassing yourself.

your best footy was played in the first term and it gained you a 1 point advantage at quarter time.

west coast had more possession, inside 50's, Judd and Cousins played good games AND you still lost to a better team with an actual forward line.

Today we were thrashed for three quarters and the 10 goal margin flattered the Eagles. Freo absolutely flogged us and it was one of the worst days at the footy I can remember (watching a game). We didnt look like getting close after 1/4 time.

I think we can play a hell of a lot better than that, but today we were owned. To suggest anything else is pretty stupid.

Congrats to Freo! Awesome form and a well deserved victory.

Eagles will lift in the finals and play much better than today.

Interesting.

So your saying the conditions on the two days at the Gabba were identical are you?

And your saying playing Richmond at Subi is now the same as playing Freo at Subi?

Anyone stupid enough to trot out the West Coast no foward line stuff, after the quantum leap Lynch has made this year...is clearly a reactionary fool.

How long do you think the body takes to recover from a football match, how much difference do you think a 4-5 hour plane flight 6 days ago made? I don't buy into the whole travel and heat excuse what a load of crap, you easily beat a bottom 8 team, wasn't a gut buster. 6 days IMO is plenty to recover sufficiently. At the very least not make much difference.

more looking at the scoreboard, less being a whiny little bitch :thumbsu:

Freo played far better footy today, no doubt. Personally, apart from bragging rights, there was not alot for us to play for. I said that before the match, I'm saying it again.

If we meet again in september I will be very bitter if we put up a performance like that when we can play so much better.

Sorry to be so harsh to you here, but Kerr=Dud is a tool of the highest order, but ... You can only play as good as your opposition lets you. Simple fact of footy, really. Anything else, is just excuses.

Is a very reasonable comparison. Especially given that Richmond's form was better that Freo's at the time, yet it did not affect Freo much. In fact WC even had an extra days break !! Poor souls.

Im prepared for the inevitable cries of 'excuses excuses' but lets get today in perspective.

1. West Coast was ALWAYS going to be physically flat after going to the Gabba last week. Thats not an excuse, but a reality which will be confirmed by anyone with an understanding of modern footy and the effect of heat on endurance type athletes.

2. Going out as hard as they did in the 1st quarter after last week is the reason the Eagles fell away the way they did and the scoreline was as large as it was. They went out to break Freo early because they knew they wouldnt have the legs for a shoot out. To Freo's luck West Coast didnt capatalize on there chances when they were there.

3. When the game was at its fierciest, Freo appeared to be unable to handle the pressure. There skills dropped, and the Dockers appeared lost. Check the tape anyone who disagrees. Its easy to smash teams after there physically spent. You wont play an Eagles side that drops off like that if we meet again in 2006; know that.

Well done Freo and its fantastic for WA footy to see you guys finally succesful, but it would be a serious mistake for Dockers people to think there team is a ten goal better side than WC.

hey UNIT

You're right, Freo aren't an 10 goal better side than West Coast. They're probably 14 or 15 goals better on today's effort. The Eagles appeared to have 3 more people running around for them (in green). 28 - 17 I'm pretty sure the free kick tally was in the Eagles favour. Not a bad return for the Eagles considering Freo had more of the footy and play.

Dockers absolutely smashed the Eagles who consistently get midfielders instead of trading for a forward.... Year after year, I bet they're glad they got rid of Aaron Edwards last year. (Leading VFL Goalkicker at the moment). Dockers are a very, very dangerous team. Look out finals!
Good luck to Freo, their supporters have been through some tough times and really deserve this!

The forward line wasn't the problem. It hardly go there

You've got to be kidding, in the first half your midfield dominated, if you had a forward line that wasn't completely dysfunctional and inept you would have been well in front.
For some reason your guys kept kicking it to Lynch. You didn't really think he was a competent player did you?

margins dont reflect all games this one did though...does that mean this will happen every time then....NO....5 weeks ago crows were hot flah favs...then west coast took that mantle now its open season between 4 or 5 clubs. Its great.

while my team lost today we didnt give in the other team had a day out. We'll go away and lick our wounds and think about and come back hard next time. The pressure is now on freo to a small degree...can they live up to the expectations?

All credit to them. My guys will come back...footy players are proud people they wont have enjoyed that pasting I'm sure we'll come back a better side from it.

On the plus side yes we lost the game we didnt get anyone injured or reported so thats good news, Hunter will be better for the run and Kerr Nicoski Hansen will be back soon. Its defenitely not doom and gloom time at all niot from this eagles fan. I always look at the whole picture not just one part of it.

Please!!!The reason Freo dominated was because they ran so much, the Eagles midfield never chased or put in near enough effort.

we didnt show enough respect in going the other way but we butchered the ball when we had it in the first half we should have been 4 goals up mid way thru the second qtr...we didnt grab our chances they did...modern footy is about momentum when you have it you must capitalise

its not the end of the world though...we'll learn from that

How unusual from a weagle fan

Sounds similar to the talk after the GF...yes sunshine...west coast are always the better team...especially when they get flogged.
Bet he's a Chelsea supporter.

Anyway, I pay scant regard to idiots that just registered on the site and start stupid threads.

And why was that i wonder.

Wouldnt of been flat from last week would they?

And how hilarious is too see Freo supporters proclaiming beating Richmond after they went to the Gabba (still no mention if they played in comprable heat but anyway) somehow proves something.

Do you think if you had come up against West Coast the next week you would of been assured of the win?

 You brought up the Gabba weak excuse. The Richmond comparison was merely to show that if anything Freo 'improved' the week after the Gabba match.

The temperature in Brisbane does not change much at all in winter. Always is fine and warm and game started same time for both matches. I think you have lost your point but who cares anyhow ??

WC ran fine for first half and were still 21 points down despite a lop sided free kick tally going for them (which continued all day) at half time. Heat was not a factor but if you really ae desperate you can think it yourself. I concede WC packed up and went home in 2nd half and real margin may have been 5 goals if WC had run it out.
