That would be like Hartung sledging Pendlebury
Where would Collingwood be without Pendlebury?
You compare Treloar to Hartung!!
Treloar was 4th in the Brownlow last year....Hartung is a spud.
As for where would the Pies be without Pendles. Well we would be in the same poo as Hawthorn without Sam Mitchell.

It looks like you are pretty much the same now with Pendlebury. Are you the rare pie fan not calling for bucks head on Saturday?

Mate, you lost. That's proof in itself his 50 poss game wasn't effective. Why the hypotheticals? Collingwood will be fine post Pendlebury. We went 100+ years without him. You're acting like you're posting on the bay, are you really that bitter after a somewhat meaningless game? It's laughable and you're making an arse out of yourself. Keep going though, don't stop on my account.

How on earth would it be anything like that? Hartung is barely AFL standard, Treloar is Collingwood's second best player and Mitchell isn't anywhere near as good as Pendlebury.

If you want to know how effective Mitchell's 50 disposals were, Champion Data didn't put him in the top 10 most effective players on the ground.

I think most sensible people have summarised it correctly - nice to have an inside ball magnet, and impressive to keep racking up these figures, but not much help in winning games if the rest of the team is useless.

What I find hilarious as a Hawthorn fan though is that for nearly a decade we've had the endless repetitive bickering about whether fewer impactful possessions matter more, now we've got the opposite problem.

And when Cyril is back, we'll have both.

The problem with the modern obsession with stats is that people don't know how to rate players without them.

Dangerfield had 36 touches and kicked 4 against the Dogs. Good numbers in anyone's book, but it's not like he had 36 damaging touches and Mitchell had 50 meaningless ones. Every player who has a big game stat wise has possessions that aren't damaging, even guys like Ablett and Dangerfield who the commentators gush over.

When a damaging player picks up 40+ touches, their possessions are marked up. When an accumulator picks up 40+ touches, their possessions are marked down.

Sorry I thought the topic was 'quality sledges'. But responses not wanted obviously

Anyway I witnessed 300% more Collingwood fans slagging off your team than anyone else so enjoy

I'm more meh it's a down year

I'm pretty much agreeing on the Mitchell possessions. Just the unfounded superiority complex of Collingwood on a scrape home win over an out of sorts opponent

Mitchell is an inside mid/in & under type... his possessions become damaging when giving off to burst players/giving them first use etc

He will never will be a break away burst player...

Treloar is a gun but he is not immune to stat padding & I wouldn't call his kicks penetrating either.

Darcy Moore? Really?

If Mitchell's job is purely to get it out of contests to a better kick how did he only manage 5 clearances from 50 disposals?

That seems to be the main argument for the lack of hurt factor. You'd think you'd see 10+ clearances from 50 touches if that's his main role.

Ball Magnet Mitchell gets 50. No one is surprised.

But people trying to knock his game because of meters gained!?

LOL, He is ranked no.1 for Assisted meters gained.

Tom is developing nicely not a top 10 mid right now but could get there someday.

Thanks mate.

I value the score involvements more the accumulated possessions.
I've never valued accumulators in poor sides very highly.

As for Treloar ... please
Not a bad player but he too is an accumulator in a poor side and doesn't overly worry his opposition.

Mitchell isn't fit to lace Treloars boots.

Don't kid yourself.
