There's about 5 cheap touches in there and 45 that weren't.

Don't know how anyone can criticise Tom Mitchell - hes an absolute gun and without him I doubt Hawks would have been competitive in many (if any games this year).

The dude has the hawks on his back this year

The criticisms were about use of the ball, not getting a free ride. I'm yet to see him use the ball in a really damaging way. He just gets it and gives it to someone. That choice of when to give it or not, and who to give it to is the key to football. It's how teams break down the opposition defence and open up play, and eventually score goals.

If Tom Mitchell gets 50 possessions vs Collingwood and no one is watching does it make a sound?

Its Collingwood it always makes a sound. Apparently anything that is related to Collingwood needs intense scrutiny and discussion by all and sundry

Mitchell 50 touches
2nd Smith 26 touches

Collingwood:
Pendlebury 36
Treloar 34
Adams 33
Sidebottom 27

clearly cost hawks the game by refusing to give to anyone else
I don't think you understand how disposals work. Or you don't realise that it's 50 disposals, not 50 touches.

This is not correct.
Swan's best was about 50, against Port Adelaide
I like how it equates 67 Swan disposals to 53 Ablett disposals. Good ol Wikipedia!

I believe it's meant to say Greg Williams who also had 53.

When they start including the metres gained by the bloke Mitchell gives the ball to, we will have a clear picture. All I know is, the 50 times Mitchell had the ball, Collingwood didn't. There we also 50 occasions Mitchell brought teammates into the game. Give the guy some credit.

Tom isn't the complete player but very, very few are. People on this website and in the footy media are ****ed in the head.

I can't believe this a thing.

Kid racks up getting touches, he is literally carrying the side at the moment, puts his head over the ball continuously.....but lets lay the boots in because he's not kicking the ball forward 45m with every possession.

Last year it was "Hawthorn can't win contested possessions", and now it's " this inside midfielder doesn't get enough metres gained, and his possessions aren't damaging".

huurrrr durrr. Footy media needs a bullet.

Surprised he's being questioned. He went out and played his normal inside style game which he's very good at. He'll never be a run and gun weapon, he's an inside player who needs good players around him to finish off his hard work.

It's the other midfielders who should be questioned. Woeful after QT.
Exactly!

Sydney let him walk. He was getting 60 possies in the 2's and was still refused a game beacuse he does zero damage with his posessions.

He is limited as a player, simply a ball magnet who can't hurt you with his disposal. Tom Mitchell getting 20 a game is enough, serviceable and is solid, 50 a game ends up hurting your team
I'll take Toms 50 over Aishs 11, De Goeys 10 & Fasolos 8
