Tom Mitchell 50 possessions

There is no greater single symbol for the idiocy that was Ablett's move to the Gold Coast.
Money and a chance to get out of the Ablett-centric Geelong bubble.
His brother retired as he couldn't handle it and for many years neither did Gary.

Wrong

If you actually had a half decent midfield you would of won and been lauding him as awesome.

Syd would love to still have him

I'll happily have him at Carlton
Sydney let him walk. He was getting 60 possies in the 2's and was still refused a game beacuse he does zero damage with his posessions.

He is limited as a player, simply a ball magnet who can't hurt you with his disposal. Tom Mitchell getting 20 a game is enough, serviceable and is solid, 50 a game ends up hurting your team

Tom mitchell was awesome in his last swans game for a start

Need to pick up a few extra shifts at work to donate for the kids end of season shoulder surgery, he's going to need it carrying our midfield by himself.
As many have already pointed out, those trying to say his possessions are useless need to acknowledge the fact everyone around him has been useless.

If hawthorn actually had outside players for him to give it to it'd be a different story.

His form at the moment is what Sam Mitchell was like from 2003-2007 (you could even say as far as 2012). Absolutely nobody to give it to, but when he had support around him, everybody stood up and noticed.
Will be great in 3-4 years when we have some players around him. He is the extractor mkII

you know that is not true. Sam Mitchell can kick a football either foot brillantly and is a great decision maker. big difference

Our outside runners are fine, we lack contested players, Tom is the only 1.
We once again lost contested possessions and clearances. No wonder we lost the game.

Good performance from Tom Mitchell, but the lack of help that he had highlighted the weakness in his team.

Hawthorn's midfield is the worst in the comp by distance.

Herein lies the problem.

Why get rid of your 2 best existing mids when it's not like you have an array of promising kids waiting to take their spot

Mitchell 50 touches
2nd Smith 26 touches

Collingwood:
Pendlebury 36
Treloar 34
Adams 33
Sidebottom 27

clearly cost hawks the game by refusing to give to anyone else

Where exactly do you think the 50 possessions went? Pretty sure he was bringing others in to the game by delivering the ball to them.

He wasn't giving the ball to himself each time
