I feel like the Swans have a strong history at getting players to the club of their choice. Since O'Keefe in 2008, I can't think of one player who's wanted to leave the Swans and hasn't been able to get there. If the Swans are asking for more than pick #9, then they're probably over valuing Papley's worth, but I would have thought for Carlton- pick #9 for a player of Papley's age and class would be an absolute no-brainer.
It sounds like the Swans are wanting more than pick 9, whilst Carlton are wanting something back, in the end I don’t think Carlton will haggle to hard to get something back but will be reluctant to add extras on top of pick 9.

Pick 9 would absolutely be on the table. I think this trade will go down to the wire if it gets done at all.

My take is it will be Papley and 25 for 9 and 2020 2nd

25 gets you Martin and 2020 second helps us get academy players when we use 2020 1st for daniher.

This trade works, then it's 25+43 for Martin which values him.around pick 16 so GC can tell everyone they got the equivalent of a 1st round pick for him.

5+9 for Daniher + future 2nd should finish off both trades.

lewis taylor to the swans makes me think this'll happen

Maybe. We are losing Jones too though not sure where we see Taylor it’s anyone’s guess.

still feel this trade will happen both clubs (unlike Essendon) are fair traders.

Papley to us for pick 9 and a few bits and pieces, Swans are fair in trades and we seem to do the right thing.

A fair deal for both clubs here.

Yep and this will probably happen tomorrow at the latest

Yeah, a good deal for both clubs.

It’s fair, possibly a little overs from Carlton but you are at a stage where you need top established talent not draft picks you have enough 18-21 year olds

Swans should be very happy with the raw numbers involved in the Papley trade.

If you break it right down, they've effectively turned a 2016 rookie pick and some steak knives into pick 9.
With all due respect, I think this is a stupid way of looking at things. It's 2019, we're not trading a rookie selection. We're trading our leading goalscorer.

Trade period ends tomorrow?

Yes - tomorrow evening at 7:30pm

Talks that Melbourne could swoop with pick 8. Surely Carlton and Sydney are already deep in talks.

Where is this talk?

The two clubs will have obviously been in talks for a fair while now.

A third team coming in to put on the pressure isn’t unusual. Reckon it happens most years.

Ultimately though players generally get to where they want to go, and Papley has nominated Carlton. I expect him to be wearing navy blue this time tomorrow.

IMO there is already an agreement for Paps.
