Watts above Fyfe??????

On performances so far this season Fyfe is close to No 1 (averaging 28 possessions).

Yeh Fyfe is the one that looks like the one who is voted lower than he will actually be in terms of top 15 in these drafts, Shuey might be the other.

Freo supporters: Who do you think will be the better player, Fyfe or Hill? I would have to say you would probably have the most exciting duo from this group, would love these guys.

When there both on there game, Hill is far more damaging and could win us a game off his own boot. But Fyfe has many more strings to his bow and could drift forward or obviously play through the middle. I think Fyfe will be far more consistent but Hill will still get the oppositions attention simply because of his damage factor. If I had to say now who will turn out better, I'd probably go with Fyfe. But Hill won't be far behind

What about Ballantyne? Is he eligible for this thread or is he confined to the "most hated player" thread.

Dunno if he got many stats but Melksham played a really solid game again, instrumental in holding the tide in the 3rd. He's not a huge numbers kinda guy but what he does can be superb.

Hes a very good player, but I don't think he will be a superstar. Thats not disrespecting him as I think he will turn out to be that consistant player who doesn't tear games apart, but will play at a very consistent level every week. Hes a bit of a no-frills player, not flashy but gets the job done game after game.

I dont ever think he will be a superstar.
I disagree, about the tearing games apart bit, His best is very dangerous, he is not Big poss getter, but can be extremely dangerous, loves getting around the goals. Reason Essendon picked him was his performance in the TAC cup GF. He broke the game open.
as far as consistent goes, I dont think he is consitent at all.

1 - Michael Hurley

Going to use the players Black Thunder used and reorder it.

1 - Stephen Hill (picks up the number 1 tagger against most sides already).
2 - Tom Scully (showed an impact at Melbourne almost from the start).
3 - Michael Barlow (when fit, this guy can set up play continuously).
4 - Harry Taylor (if I could have one player in my team not there already, it's Harry).
5 - Michael Hurley (strong player, and will just get stronger).
6 - Jack Grimes (this guy is just solid).
7 - Dustin Martin (strong player, again, and he just commands the ball).
8 - Cyril Rioli (has the potential to be one of the most damaging players - needs to show it consistently).
9 - Matt Kruezer (very very important player for Carlton).
10 - Nic Naitanui (plays injured way too much and shows potential - but has not had a breakout game just yet!!!).
11 - Greg Broughton (solid and does his job week in and week out).
12 - Jack Trengove (may suffer from second year blues later, but is a good player).
13 - Nathan Fyfe (seems to be able to do anything).
14 - Patrick Dangerfield (needs to get the ball more - because when he does, he wins games).
15 - Steele Sidebottom (surrounded by good players, but he is just as good as many of them already).

martin's a better footballer for sure IMO.

i may have overrated Grimes a bit but i'm a big fan. as shown there i think he's the best of melbourne's draftees. though i may have also underrated scully and JT a bit....

we know what's good about martin... what's good about grimes?? it's kinda hard to pin point. he's a footballers footballer. like martin. he's a decent size and he reads the play well and gets into good position and uses the ball well.

doesn't have the big weapons other guys have, but he doesn't do anything wrong for a young guy.

happy to admit a slightly elevated opinion because the one live game i saw melbourne last year was against eagles and he played very well that day.

Would have Scully a bit lower and Trengove higher from a Melbourne perspective. He's having anything but 2nd year Blues and has improved hugely from last season

no love for pittard??

some very good players in those lists. very good drafts barring 07 which was a shocker.

as more time passes im expecting our haul of hartlett, trengove, broadbent(08) , lobbe(07), butcher, moore and pittard(09) from those drafts will be a huge part in our future. as a whole thats a great group from 07-09 without bottoming out.

slighty off-topic but for pafc fans looking at 06-10 add boak, gray, westhoff, p.stewert, jacobs, newton, oshea , young and irons.

Interesting summary of recent drafts from an article on Matty Primus

Port has paid a heavy price for not giving its draft picks enough game time in recent years when compared with the opportunities given at other clubs. Matthew Westhoff has played six games, the most by the 2007 Port draft picks. From that draft, 46 have played more games headed by Harry Taylor (Collingwood, 66), Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn, 64) and Matthew Kruezer (Carlton, 56).

From the 2008 draft, Port's Jason Davenport, pick No.78, has played the most games (24) for the club, while 26 players from that draft have played more, including Stephen Hill (Fremantle, 45), Dayne Beams (Collingwood, 43) and Steele Sidebottom (Collingwood, 36).

Andrew Moore has played the most games from the 2009 draft from Port - seven, ranking him equal 31st on the list behind players including Anthony Morabito (Fremantle, 23 games), Ryan Bastinac (North Melbourne, 22) and Tom Scully (Melbourne, 21).

I think Hartlett, Butcher, Pittard, Jacobs, Trengove as guys who were taken early are obvious talents, but all except Pittard have had no luck with injury in their first seasons.

Pittard picked up a r/s norm last week and Trengove was a big player in our comeback win. Hartlett was also good.

Butcher has 7 goals from 3 games in the SANFL this year and Jacobs just played his first game and racked up 20+ touches and close to best on.

Lobbe, meh. Moore is just a solid player, good defensively. Again both have struggled with injury this year.

I think if Hartlett stays fit he is a definite top 15 player from these drafts.
