List Mgmt. Trade: Allen Christensen traded to Brisbane in exchange for National Draft selection no. 21

Not before I give my 10 bob's worth. The more I think about this the more depressed I am that we have been dudded big time. Bundy passed his medical at Brisbane. Either it was a cursory medical or his prognosis must be good.

Bundy is a premiership player yet to hit his prime and until recently was considered to be in Geelong's top 10 by most. And all we get is pick 21, while Collingwood have held out and look likely to get 2 draft picks + a player from Brisbane for Beams. I don't think Beams is that much better than Bundy.

Beams is a contracted players so Collingwood can control the situation....

Bundy is uncontracted and holding the club at ransom essentially. The kid must be that desperate to get out of Geelong to act the way he has to a club that not only picked him in the draft but have now developed him into a very very good player. His agent will be advising Geelong, either accept pick 21 or he will go to draft and you will get nothing! Still cannot believe what this kid has done to Geelong Football Club. Absolutely guttered on many fronts

But was Bundy uncontracted?

No way!
I thought Connolly summed it up on radio pretty well yesterday.

21 is unders for Geelong. But Christensen has some serious personal issues that I won't go into. But it shows how great a club Geelong is. They have recognised how important it is for the well being of the player to move him at any cost. And that's what they are doing.

Yes that's correct, the only thing the club could control was the contract. They did give him a new contract, which he agreed to in principle and would sign at a later date.

All this attitude, or behaviour, is Christensen's to control. And this is why there is pages and pages of people pouring out their disbelief, angst and frustration.

I believe Geelong tried to renew contract during year but talks were pushed ut

I agree Geelong Football Club are doing the right thing by a player who wants to leave and putting his welfare at the forefront. Make me proud to say I'm a Geelong supporter.

However, they also realise that they can't push for a higher draft pick with the risk of getting nothing for him at all because he is not contracted and holds all the cards.

I disagree, the club is playing the high moral ground, where I bet they'd be very annoyed at. But they don't have anywhere else to go, he's uncontracted. So the decision is, get something or he walks for free.

If Christensen's issues are so profound or damaging, why pick only one club to go to?

He went to the club with the most cap space available, surely that is not a coincidence.

Which club would you insist on playing for. A club that offers you 400 thousand a season, or one that can only offer you 300. Not a hard choice in the end.

He went and had a meeting at the GC!
Maybe he thought they were directionless?

We would have got pick 29 at the gold coast BTW.
I'm not sure why you are arguing. Other than due to bitterness.

Yeah that's sounds pretty spot on. Personal issues or not, which I have no idea what they are, but he established he wanted Queensland, he'd be a fool not to prefer the extra 100k on offer at Brisbane as opposed to GC.

Bundy's dumb as dog shit he makes Nathan Ablett look like a rocket surgeon. Both good footballers IMHO but if the hearts not in it or the club we're better of without them regardless of what we receive in compensation.Move on.

Shit post, you wouldn't have posted anything like this two weeks ago, yes he going it doesn't mean you should insult him.

Or a brain scientist.

No I wouldn't have but he hadn't made the dumb decision at that stage, and it's dumb if he's leaving the Cattery for the reasons posted on this board..

Why would you think that the crap spewed in this thread is anymore reliable the a rumour on twitter or Facebook. Regardless of his reasons for leaving he is a Geelong premiership player and he deserves the respect that comes with it.

Then if he's left simply for money and screwed the Cats at the same time he's a prick.

And straight after that meeting, they said they couldn't fit him into their cap and were not in his plans.

The apologists are in full swing this morning

Where is that documented. Must have missed it.

People can be annoyed with Christensen but I think it is completely false to suggest he left for money. Geelong would have matched any deal offered by Brisbane. Ironically we were the club who wanted him most. Only Geelong understood his true value. Brisbane moved quickly when an opportunity presented to them but they did not seek him out. Of all the players in the comp, would you target a Geelong kid with a bad back as your priority if you are Brisbane? Of course not. Christensen's motives were not financial. Not that it matters I guess.

Was a direct statement on SEN in an interview. Virtually straight after the 'meeting'
Ok. The only comment I can find is from a reporter stating that GC did due diligence and were never keen on him.
Geez we would have got a soggy bag of twisties if Brisbane had known that.
