List Mgmt. Trade: Allen Christensen traded to Brisbane in exchange for National Draft selection no. 21

Regarding the contract status, I had read with no link to support it that he was offered a contract extension last year with 1 year remaining and knocked it back as he wanted more $$ - the premise being he was gonna have a big year this year and that his performance would reflect the pay increase.

Then he missed 12 games and so forth.

As for Bundy, I certainly hope he gets his shit dialed with whatever he needs to do. The original speculation was gambling related and now its a GF issue.

Everyone makes mistake and has stuff they need to deal with and I hope that whatever happens he sorts it out. Ive met him a few times and has alway seemed a ripper bloke.

My point of frustration manifests from the position his lack of communication to the club has left us with.

If you need to leave then so be it. Id rather he stay and be with us.

The club has given him a home and set him up well. Id guess Id just like some of that repaid a little. Seems like a very rash decision and perhaps with a little tie he can settle. At the very least, I hope he does not confuse his situation in Geelong with trouble with the GFC and as such ensures the GFC get reasonable and fair return for his loss.

And for the morons ragging on him and pursing him on FB and Twiiter to blast him…. get a life you ****s.

Players private lives and situations are exactly that… private.

Whilst it is very regrettable that Christensen may be falling out of contract I don't think it necessarily follows that if indeed he does leave we will suffer at the trade table. The vast majority of players that are traded are out of contract. Yes, you have more bargaining power with him in contract, but if there is competition for his services (which there evidently is with Christensen), then we should be able to get a reasonable return.

The ridiculous thing about this is it appears Gold Coast and Brisbane are not even really that interested. What the hell is he thinking?

I am going through stages of grief. This morning I was in denial, now I am angry.
I'm sure I heard Greg Swan say yesterday that they are interested and that he is a very very good player.

Obviously they will take him if he falls in their lap but I heard Schwab on RSN and their only focus is Beams. He is not a player they have targeted at all.

I think others who said this yesterday, the compensation we get is going to be derisory, we may as well just focus all our attention on keeping him, even if it means getting nothing.

I find it hard to believe that Christensen's contract has never even been brought up, if he was OOC this year. We were even speculating about Rivers this season because we knew he was OOC. Seriously, this information should be readily available; you shouldn't have to go to the Google archives and hope to get lucky.

Tweeting Emma Quayle to ask her to confirm wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Emma Quayle in her article yesterday said he is uncontracted, but the news corp journos yesterday doing the live chat were sure that Christensen was contracted beyond this year - trying to work out how there can be this much confusion over a players contract status and where they are getting the different information from.

Appartenly an early post suggested that he was pissed not to be playing the first final. Given he had trained earlier in the week and said he would be fine to play

Perhaps the club already knew he was leaving and just thought stuff him. Don't necessary agree with it given how good he is but they may not have wanted anoteher Stevie J in the team who wasn't 100% fit.

Maybe not playing him in the first final was the tipping point. But given he is a Geelong boy and all, maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

edit : Just read all this stuff about the GF. Obvisously other issues there

The Beams deal is looking shaky. I can't see either side adding/accepting any more than what's on the table. The lions are adamant they won't trade a player and that's reallly what the pies want. Could very well fall over by end of tomorrow.

This changes everything in relation to Bundy, he will become the Lions "big fish" this trade period. And the Suns/lions hopefully push the price up. If the Suns offer 15, which is likely, the lions next best offer is 5. Is that to much for him? Probably what he is worth but the lions are desperate for relevance again, and Bundy adds to that.

Maybe some pick swaps happen. Pick 5 and 25 for our pick 14 and Bundy. Yes we lose someone we really can't afford to, but a top 5 pick to Geelong is a rarity, added with 25 and we come out of it ok.

Rather keep Bundy, but I don't think we get held over the barrel for him IF Beams doesn't get there AND both clubs want him. Which they should.

Not sure about this "man up and own your mistakes" nonsense flying around here at present.

Rumour is rumour.

And if it is actually true, we've got NFI as to the intricacies of the conflict.

I want him to stay, and I trust everyone at the Cattery is doing everything in their power to keep him here.

Just pick 5 and we keep 14.

That would be ok, but yeah wish we could keep him.

Now she only mentions that Lonergan & Varcoe are contracted for next year - seems no one has any idea what is going on with Bundy

As I said last night, I can't fathom how the club could let it get to October without locking him away. Hopefully we find out for certain today whether he is signed up or not.

He is obviously uncontracted. If he has a contract this is not even being discussed. The club statement would have said 'We respect Allen's wishes but he is a contracted player and we expect him to be at the club next year, unless a trade can be arranged that is beneficial to the club. We will continue to support Allen and our players' welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Geelong'

They should give me a job.

Assume Emma Quayle is correct and he is out of contract (how did we let that happen btw?) what is the scenario if the cats play hard ball and he has to go in the pre-season draft?

Ha something like that, just don't see QLD as being the escape plan he might think it is. The media won't let that happen once they catch wind.
Yep Favs troubles never magically disappeared at the QLD border.
