I agree on Schache being an underwhelming prospect but Cox does not straighten us up. Our lack of a key forward is why we are so indecisive with the footy

We are slow, careful and indesicive because that's what our coaches tell us to do. Get the ball then handball backwards and maintain possession.

Of course the problem is made worse when the coaches constantly select slow and indesicive players...

The whole Treloar "do you want me?" and "no" sounds like bullshit, an over dramatisation, or that brutal break-up you have with your partner when they just won't let it die.

I think that's exactly what Jay was going for with the tweet, not that it went down exactly like that, just the actually discussion were the equivalent of that. I'd be wary but Jay is normally close to it on Pies news.

Rofl, how on earth is your first pick in a super compromised draft, to the point 12 will probably end up being 15-16, worth more than our next years first, in a stronger, less compromised draft...?
Because we would have to expect the Pies make finals again. Means in the best case scenario, we get Pick 11, but risk it being even later. Not a bet worth making, let alone going for the player swaps too

I just can't understand how we've reached to a point where our cap is bursting.

The Treloar stuff is going to look horrible on the club no matter what.
Our cap should be no where near this.
Players like Phillips, WHE ect shouldn't be on massive deals.
Brodie Grundys contract was and is still embarrassing.

It's just not a good time.. haha

Disgusted. And we’ll use the ‘his family is moving to QLD as a rental’ as the motivating factor to move him on, against his wishes.
Can’t wait for Ads to tell the world how badly we treated him. As we all know, we’re not a destination club so it’ll be funny when we continue to get turned down for years to come.
Given Treloar’s previous and well publicised mental health issues and how he says his partner is his rock, there must be serious concerns about next year from his and the club’s point of view.
The separation anxiety could affect him badly. His form could drop away or worse still he could step away from footy to be with his family and ask to be traded at the end of next season when he’ll have no trade currency.
It’s a real concern for all concerned, not least of all Ad’s.
Both the human and business elements of this situation point to him being better off moving to the Suns.

I'd hope the only reason we trade Treloar is to bring someone else in, there's no certainty in bringing in a high draft pick.
Will be very disappointed if we let him go considering he loves this club for an untried kid that would be poor list management imo.

It's not his fault they offered him the contract extension, I'd trade JDG before Adam atleast he acts like he wants to be apart of this club instead of seeing how much money he can get out of us.

Loyalty isn't a one way street with won't end well.

Totally agree. The Grundy deal has bent us over. It wouldn’t surprise me if Eddie said sign Grundy at all costs as we know how much of a man crush Ed has for Grundy.

I think our best 22 is as good as anyone else's in the comp. In theory at least, because we've rarely seen it on the park.

It's from 22-30 where we've fallen short over the last three seasons.

The more 'boring' trades we can make for guys on the periphery coming in at a good price to add depth, the better.
Dunn, Langdon, Reid, Beams, Broomhead are our depth who literally don’t play. Horrendous list management to have so many players like that.

I don’t forget games, I can just identify when something happens out of the norm. Everyone goes on about how great Geelong is because they smacked us in the semi, while conveniently forgetting that we had just done the hardest road trip in football, beaten a West Coast outfit that was regarded as having as much chance as any other side to win this year, and basically had nothing left in the tank as a result. They also conveniently forget that we beat Geelong earlier this year before the AFL arse f’ed us with the toughest travel draw in the league that had us cooked halfway through the year.
This was interesting.
J Brown said when Brisbane were at the peak of their powers 3-peating, the toughest match to play all year was after playing WC in Perth because the trip was so taxing. Backing up at the Gabba the following week was incredibly tough.
He said why are we so surprised about the Gee/Pies semi result after knowing that.

Do some research on next years draft mate. Even if we win the premiership, pick 18 next year will still be much, much more desirable than circa pick 16 this year, and that’s without even taking in to account the fact that anything outside the top 5-6 is a lottery this year because of the lack of exposed form all the Vic kids have.

Personally, I believe this is just flat too brutal and too littered with opinions to be 100% true.

"No, we don't want you" to Treloar hardly seems like a Collingwood quote with the Buckley culture set in the last few years. Combined with Treloar's really open and honest approach to his own mental demons, it just doesn't add up.

Discussions around his fit and value make sense because I don't think we get the best value for $$$ and nor do I believe we play him in positions to get the best out of him.

But 'you're not wanted' when really we can't be that stuck financially if we were able to offer Cameron big $$$ seems ludicrous. Despite his flaws, he is still a best 22 player in every AFL side.
As soon as it read “my belief is ....” I stopped reading.

It’s hard to fathom, isn’t it?

There are a few contributing factors I can identify, and no doubt many I can’t...
1) Trading out four first rounders for Treloar and Beams - instead of four best-22 spots being filled by relatively cheap (on first contract) players, we paid big money to have one best-22 spot filled.
2) Failures of Scharenberg, Freeman, Kennedy, Broomhead, McLarty - see above.
3) Atrocious injury lists - making player assessment and development challenging, players are kept longer on the list than they should without contributing.
4) Use of the rookie list as an old folks home - prevents taking a scattergun approach to young, cheap talent and turning the list over
5) Overpriced contract offers to FAs - 3 years to Mayne that even Buckley couldn’t fathom, Greenwood, Wells...
6) Long-term injured players on long contracts - see Langdon, Beams, Broomhead... we couldn’t get any return on them.
7) Period of finals without flags - denied access to top draft capital but not winning flags where players might sacrifice money for sustained success (Pendles excluded)

Where would Tom Morris be getting that from then? It's pretty specific.
His own imagination is the most likely place. there’s just no way that he’s been told that he’s difficult to coach. Bucks loves him to bits.

The way Rendell talked about AT today made me feel as if the club almost has to be cruel to be kind to Adam in this situation. He described him as almost obsessive compulsive, and talked about how he relied on his girls for balance in his life (paraphrasing) and that despite Adams insistence he wants to stay in Vic, he doesn’t think he’ll handle it well when push comes to shove. There’s a lot of narrative around his salary too, but if push came to shove we could make that work. Cap relief is just a side benefit we’d get from his departure. It sounds like the clubs main concern is that AT won’t cope with the girls in Qld and need time off/have his form affected by their absence, hence the push from them for him to make the move.
The question I would pose to Rendell based off the 'caring' narrative is - what happens when her one year contract (maybe) is up in Gold Coast and they want to return to Victoria - but Adam is contracted for 4+ years at GC?
