Whilst there’s some talk of raiding the kennel at the moment, anyone interested in Ed Richards? I think handy player.
Would love him. He should be in B&W, same as Weideman!

We need some kind of grandfather-grandson rule to bring him, Merrett and Weideman to their rightful home.

*Edit* - Merrett's only a great nephew. Let's throw that rule in as well, then.

Mihocheck 2 year 900k

3 year 1.3 million

4 year 1.5 million

I'd be happy enough with three years at $400k + a fourth trigger-based year at $300k (ie. your 1.5 mil over 4 years). Probably the maximum he could expect without having to relocate elsewhere and there'd have be some performance based bonus triggers in there (not significant - maybe 15-20% of the overall total)

Ed Richards would be someone I'd be very keen to slot in on a wing / half back flank. If we could get him as the steak knives in a 2020-2021 first round pick swap I'd be very happy.

Mat Rendal reported it on SEN as well as pointing out the clubs concerns about the back end of his contract, his kicking and his lack of real impact, he also mentioned AT's mental state with his wife and kids in QLD. Tom Browne has also been reporting the same things as well as others so either you've been living in a bubble or your just trying to get bites. I was only saying what is being reported

It was a genuine question. I'm not in Melbourne and don't listen to SEN. Probably wouldn't bother even if I could. The notion that a back-ended contract is 3 years @ $900k is bizarre to say the least, especially when historically he's always reportedly been accepting of lower end contracts. I could understand a final year @ $900k if he was taking less in years 1-3.

We DO have a Premiership-worthy back line but we lack:
* An A-grade FF - similarly BNE,
* An A-grade CHF - similarly PA, BNE, GEEL
* Two A-grade Wings (but Daicos stepped-up) - similarly RICH, GEEL, PA,
* crumbing goal-sneak forwards
* Foot speed through the middle of the ground
* Connection between our dominant ruck and the midfielders around him
* A-grade assistant coaches

All teams have holes - so you don't need the perfect list to win a flag.

Lions are getting Daniher.

Port have Dixon rotating FF and CHF duties.

We are missing both all those teams you listed have at least 1 gun KPF bar Lions.

I havent seen much of shache - is he like jack watts?

i get the impression that such players can be decent role players if they play to their strengths, ie. as an outside flanker who can kick well into the forward line.

Obviously they look crap when they are made to be things they arent, such as physical KPs.

But by some reports he is not even up to that?

I wonder if they see him potentially as a defender. Imo he doesn't have the cnut in him for a KPF role at AFL level.

Far out salivating over the thought of Adams, DeGoey and Brayshaw all in the guts come on Pies get it done.

Ol' get knocked out every other week by a fly?

I don't know if he is a great inside bull as people claim either. IMO im very luke warm on it not sure it fixes our issues either just adds more of the same in terms of type middling pace accumulator.

Melbourne midfielder Angus Brayshaw says his series of concussions made him think about stepping away from the game.

Brayshaw suffered four concussions in the space of 12 months and wears a helmet during games.

When it began to take a toll on him, the 23-year-old considered taking some time away from footy.

“There were times when I was prepared, if it was the best thing, maybe to step away from the game,” Brayshaw told SEN Breakfast.

“We had a heap of specialists go through each test and thankfully, I was given the green light.”

When asked what advice he would give to St Kilda's Paddy McCartin, who has also suffered a string of concussions, Brayshaw said he just needs to worry about himself rather than footy.

That’s what Sam Edmund was claiming on SEN this morning. Is that where you heard it or is someone else running with that?

Given CoVid19, I find it hard to believe we are the only club caught out with a big back ended contract?

Understandably Treloar is happy to stay and collect his coin.

If the players do want team success, then maybe given the effects of Covid 19, it might be an opportunity to review the contact and perhaps reduce it? (If salary caps are not going to increase as expected).

Matt Rendell doesn't 'report' anything.

He's a former Collingwood employee who has been let go. His job was in recruiting/underage talent identification.

His job now is to be as interesting as possible for a few minutes a week on radio.

He's smart enough to understand that he generates clicks and listeners for his new employer when he shoots the sh1t about Collingwood.

Don't get sucked into anything he has to say, unless it's about recruiting.

Its being reported that its big, 5 more years to go and heavily back ended - 900k in the last year.

Always been reported as accepting of lower end contracts. Could understand the $900k final year if he taking less in the other years and the biggest payout has been aligned to coincide with others departing. Pendles and Sidey the obvious 2 but 2024 must have Howe close to the end as well. Say (for example) he was averaging $700k over the 4 year extension, takes 3x $600k + 1x $900k. Frees up space years 1-3.

That article is two years old. As far as we know, he hasn’t had any further concussions in that time and I don’t think he wears the helmet anymore either.

Purely from a list perspective we are not far away, sure we're not a wc or gws but one could argue we match the tigas, maybe not as balanced where KPF's comes to mind.

A few points you've mentioned aren't list related, it's player and game development rated i:e assistant coaches, ruck and mid cohesion.

The tigas just use their chess pieces better than any other team, where one could argue that the Pies list is far from potential.

I'd argue our list is overrated because it's poorly used. This very same club turned no names into headline news in the space of one off season, just like the tigas have. We do the same from now, and trade / draft in what we need and the cups will come.

I listed Dixon as FF, hence PA lacking a CHF - he can't play both positions as once.
BNE made TOP 4 without an A Grade FF in 2020.
I could have gone deeper by indicating the lack of A grade Ruckman at GEEL and RICH.

All the above analysis will change by the end of trade period , but that was not my point.
I was simply comparing teams on their 2020 lists, to demonstrate there is not such things a perfect list.

That's a worry, It's a no for Brayshaw from me

Richmond have a competitive physical ruck like D.Jolly was. You don't need the best ruck in the game you just need one who likes to hit bodies be competitive (neutralise their rucks tap work) and be physical.

Its soft non competitive unphysical rucks that kill you ie Richards Fanning Wood etc.

I think you do it to undersell the role of genuine good KPFs have on the game.

It's only one area of concern for us anyway imo we have a range of holes need fixing.

That article is two years old. As far as we know, he hasn’t had any further concussions in that time and I don’t think he wears the helmet anymore either.

But it is a previous medical issue and he plays a bit more outside the contest now than he did then. He is not a Viney Selwood Adams etc type or even a burst mid or a first possession mid. He racks it up in transition like Pendles Sideass and co.

Charlie Constable in his first season had game highs of :

- Disposals : 31
- Tackles: 7
- Contested possessions : 13
- Clearances: 5
- Marks : 10

He also kicked a goal in 5 of the 7 games he played.

Absolutely worth a pick.

Constable is not coming to Collingwood. I'm pretty sure he is related to Mick Malthouse.
