agree. would be awesome-er if GWS could just get a few more fans haha!

That's part of the idea. Fierce rivalry will attract the theatre goers, especially if they believe they have a chance of winning. Anyway...who said it'd be in Sydney...:p After our PF and the widely acknowledged likelihood of the 2 teams hanging around for a few years, I think it'd be the type of game neutrals would attend on Good Friday at the G. Plus we will have 50K members !!

Exactly. A recurring theme on the GWS board through their saltiness has a number of their posters admitting we have more scope for upside than their squad of 24 year olds. I've commented on a few threads that we/AFL need to harness this growing rivalry and pencil in blockbuster opportunity ie Good Friday

We also are ahead of them ATM with regards to leadership ( we have team leaders all over the field) and at the very top end. Our numbers 4 and 21 are going to be better than anyone they are ever likely to have and I suspect the guy wearing 17 might prove to be ahead of Patton and Cameron in time. The recruiting of guys like Deledio and SJ shows that they are desperate to get ahead of us, even if it for a short time.

Our leaders are born. Theirs assume it When you put all those high picks together in such a short period an abundance of ego is assured. Lucky they have C.Ward to settle it down. And where'd they get him ? Ours have historically stemmed from a struggle, then excelled as leaders.

Let's be fair though,I'm not sure people need to go back months to find something you said that was wrong and I'm not sure how relevant it is when you keep saying others said the same as if that in someway makes your information more credible. Wrong is wrong, even a lot of the cryptic stuff you mentioned, which gives you a bit of scope, proves to be nowhere near the mark. Great effort for trying but you should pur your hand up when your a fairway off the mark.
By the way,can you tell me a little more about these two medicals Vardy failed?
Also,in fairness, how did you get 3 things right. If your counting Cloke and Boyd that's hardly groundbreaking but there was no mystery player that you mentioned. Did you say we'd get Houli also? And you were adamant Jong was out the door, you even called him selfish and ungrateful if I recall, but he stayed. Thanks for the info though but not much turned out true.

Lol never ever soda we would get Houli. EVER!

And Jong was out the door until the pies pulled their offer so let's not pretend he stayed coz he wanted to in the end it was us or the Suns and he didn't want to go interstate.

But keep worrying about me I bowfins you amusing.

I've been wrong several times(everyone has) others just don't have people pathetic enough to troll back months to find things I say wrong.

When trade period started this year I haven't said sword Coz the info I got was we were doing zero and said that and got lambasted for it but hey don't brin that up will you !! Hahhaa move on

Anyway trade period is over

We were average at Best Buy if that was due to choice or inability to do deals who knows.

We won flag and move forward with a slightly weaker list than at the start of trade week but relays isn't lose much so no biggy.

Trade period over move on

Aside from no draft picks for this year and next, Hawks have taken more damage that will take time to see.

How would you feel as one of the 6 or 8 players they tried to get to move to the Gold Coast?

You know that the Club now thinks you are expendable. Your move in the next season or two when you come off contract....

Expendable only in a given context: getting Jaeger. I wouldn't feel to concerned about that as a player, honestly.

Agree 100 per cent. They've thrown out two club legends under the guise of caring for the players and their future.

Add the six or eight they put up for trade, burning all of this year's draft picks and most of next years, then bring in Tom Mitchell who was fifth banana in a strong Swans midfield and O'Meara whose body is no certainty to hold up.

So, no kids for two years, first and second in B&F gone and a heap of pressure on Mitchell and O'Meara who will be seen by Hawks fans as the players who forced out their legends.

Smart move Hawks.

Tom Mitchell fifth banana? Come on now. Kid is a gun and was behind Parker and Kennedy only. O'Meara is the suspect trade, but if they get him fit, he'll be a player. Don't agree with getting rid of Mitchell or Lewis, but who knows what their salary was. Don't mind their strategy.

Behind hannebery too, but it's hardly a problem being fourth in line behind three of the best mids in the league

Our list may be slightly weaker after the trade but our best 22 is probably better and our future is better set.

Cloke if he can get to near his ability we will improve our attack. (Even without Crameri that will always even better).

Hamling is certainly a loss and a very good player but we had him, Adams,Fletch, Cordy and Collins as KPD and really only Boyd as a
KPF - much better for us to gain in forwards.

Stevens and Hrovat are both very good players but they are behind too many players to be any real value to us (Stevens: Dunkley, Jong and Webb and Hrovat:'McLean, Daniel, Dale and Honey).

Getting a few draft picks in the top 30 allow us to strengthen areas we are not so strong or take a player with potential to force their way into the side. Lots of good players at our picks and great chance one or even both add something on the years to come. A mid like Venables or Galluci and a tall like Sproule, or the 195cm wingman set above. We could also look at a long term lock down defender for Morris replacement or a smart Bob replacement like Hayward.

We know how good Stevens and Hrovat is and even for they are not good enough. Even with our incredible injuries they couldn't push in.

We also lost Minson, Adcock and Goetz and these are all the right call - even though Minno is one of my favorites. We effectively get a pick 50 (Caleb Daniel anyone? Would be going for the Madmen Ruckman from SA, Olongo, Rato?? Or even Long of he is still there.

Then we need two rookies: if we don't get a ruck then guaranteed one is a ruck other one will be either a high risk high potential roughy or would not be surprised if we pick our VFL captain - Adcock was Right idea and wrong player but he can cover Wood. Murphy Boyd and has size to even cover Morris. Would be great insurance. R.Smith will be great and hopefully we can leave as a rookie and Lynch also looking very good.

Yeah forgot about Hannebery. Reckon he struggled because Parker, Kennedy & Mitchell are quite similar players, but Mitchell is just behind them. Not a huge loss for Sydney, but a good pickup for Hawthorn. Think they'll slide regardless though. A lot depends on Roughy.

Anyone think Suckling may have missed the boat?
Depends,I wasn't even convinced he was in the boat from what I've seen but he played an OK game or two early that surprised me. He will definitely be ok depth but maybe we need to be fair and have a bit of a look at him injury free. He certainly needs to be told taking the game on and taking risks is ok but being any sort of a showboat isn't accepted.

absolutely agree

With Bob back I'd like to see Suckling up on the wings more, kicking 60 meter bombs and nailing passes to our forwards.

He punched above his weight when our injuries got really bad in that area, and his game suffered as such. You don't want him being the main generator of a backline driven offence, as his little specialist kicks become turnovers.

Of course there's guys like Webb, Williams and perhaps even Dale that have to eventually work their way into the team, among others, but I'd like to see Suckling around the forward 50 a bit more next season. A bit hard to figure it all out at the moment, but the preseason games, when they come, would be a good time to try it.

I thought Suckling was BOG in one game but after that didn't do much at all - hopefully it was due to his injury and he can come back and do well.

Slightly weaker list?

No natural improvement in one of the youngest premiership lists ever? Surely lists do get stronger with natural development as well as trading and drafting.

2 players we agree were not best 22, Cloke in Cordy back not sure how that is weaker but each to their own I suppose.

Fwiw keep posting MD may not always agree but always like differing opinions

Ok so who is delisted next year?:D

In all seriousness, our list is a young premiership team. The beauty is our depth. Let's not pretend we are Choc full of A grade talent. But by Christ we have the deepest list of B/B+ talent in the league. And that is why we will compete. If anyone gets ahead of themselves, we have quality soldiers to step in.

Combined with our coach, we are in a truly incredible position to build a dynasty of at least 7 years.

Amazing.

roberts, honeychurch and prudden will probably come out of the team next year and we will make just the 3 selections just like this year i would have thought

Hannebery, Heeney/Mills as well.

The Mitchell/O'Meara thing was gutsy, but was it worth flushing two years at the draft for?

Agree with Hannebery, but at this stage Mitchell is easily ahead of Heeney and Mills.
Depends. If they're confident that O'Meara can get fit, which you'd think they are, then it might be. He has the potential to be a top 5 mid. They've got enough credits in the bank that I'm confident that it should be a shrewd move. Wouldn't be surprised if they worked their way back into a good position in next year's draft either. Reports that they shopped around 6-8 decent players, so they might do that next trade period to try and get some picks back in to the system.

Well thank you
But that was my gypsy half sister medusa- her spells from the necromonicon are only reserved for finals - otherwise they would lose their potency. So we will have to wait until September 2017 for her and me to start rubbing ourselves with excrement again. Thank god!

The gypsy half sister together with brazilian macumba did the thing for the finals. lets try this magic again yebiga, but your gypsy half sister must lead the way. i will contact the macumba witch doctors on my way to south america in a few weeks. that is my promise

For various reasons the following players may be looked at : Boyd, Morris, Murphy, Honeychurch, Prudden, Hamilton, Adams - which is enough for starters.... That is before you consider other clubs targetting our guys, injuries, form slumps etc...
