I'm.

Sure you lot would have said the same thing about Yeo and Docherty but you will not admit it.
You're kidding? Everyone was really upset to lose Yeo mate, we loved him and knew he had amazing talent and we were shattered.

Docherty hadn't really shown glimpses of his full potential with us but we knew he'd be good but Yeo had shown the glimpses he is now showing full-time at the Eagles.

No one cared about losing Polec/Longer/Karnezis.

What a shit deal! Sack JMac NOW!

Other than being a p2 what makes you think Schache is going to be any good?

Personally haven't seen a lot of him. But I've seen enough of JMacs talent identification to make me wonder.

Without Schache appearing to be a bargain our trade period is diabolical. Trengove is solid. Crozier nothing special. Schache who knows but many are concerned about his lack of competitiveness.

We've also got Roberts and Campbell as excess baggage with a couple of years of contracts each to go.

How this trade period will be remembered pretty much hinges on Schache IMO.

At least we've given Dal a sniff with two ok picks.

Was Jong ever really on the table?

Other than a opaque tweet by Stevo late yesterday, there wasn't any hint that he was. I suspect he is who Brisbane wanted as part of an exchange for Schache and if our club entertained the notion at all, the freshly contracted Jong clearly didn't.

The Brisbane Lions board is interesting reading.
Very happy with his 2016, not so much with his 2017 but there are serious issues this year off field.

Would pick 25 this year be better than Schache? I don't think so, especially considering Dalrymple was with our trade people today.

Overall I'd say we've had a good couple of weeks. I loved Jake and still hoped he was going to stay, but happy we got another tall forward for F all. A solid key defender (seems like months ago) and two first round picks. Crozier will be a handy pick up too.

I was flat after the Stringer trade went through but now feeling we've got a good outcome for the club and hopefully for Jake too.

EAD yourself m8.

Upshot we've mismanaged the Stringer trade and seen largely unproven patchy players like Cameron and Weller go for high picks, while we get stuff all.

Then we trade two seconds and a golden 18 2nd rd for a 10 pick upgrade on P25. FMD. That is even worse than the Stringer effort.

Then we recruit Schache. The Homesick Kid who no one wanted with possible mental health issues to pair up with the clinically depressed Boyd. Awesome.

One of the worst trade periods I've seen since the Rhode 2003 disaster.

Agree, pretty ridiculous to be slinging childish insults at people who have an opinion that differs from the group think and/or your own. I feel that we lost the trade period, so I guess I'm a nuffie. Stringer is a star while Schache could easily kick on and be a jet, or he could be delisted in two years (disagree with those saying Stringer could also be delisted in a few years). Can see how people think we won though (their argument being - got rid of "the cancer", got a best 22 player, a former pick 2 and have picks 9+16 in this years draft) and I'm fine with that. Personally I feel Crozier is a 22-25 best player so is only going to be depth, Trengove will be a best 22 player but he is only a C+ grade player and Schache is to early to call, could be a star/best 22/bust. We got fleeced with the Stringer and Carlton trade though and you cannot deny that.

Anyway, very, very sad to be losing who I thought was our second most talented player on our list and a personal favorite. He will always be a premiership player to me. Bunch of role players and potential doesn't equate to replacing Stringer. Happy though that we got Trengove, Schache and Crozier on the cheap and will be bringing in 4 highly rated draftees over the next 2 years (#9, #16, #2018 first rounder and Rhylee West). We really do need Toyd as a forward and/or Schache to kick on though..

Also great call Fronks with Schache, you and Pann are the only real reason I view this thread.

Dunno. As we've seen with Stringer, no point having talent if your head ain't right.

Guess we'll see...

Talls take time....

So you will be devastated if JMac leaves at the end of the year? I admit he redeemed himself somewhat at the end (with the assumption that Schache is a legitimate Pick 2 - we will see) but I don't think there is any doubt that we could have done better with the Stringer trade (as first proposed) or our dealings with Carlton. Time will tell but that last 15 minutes evened up his score a bit.
But the net result is all that counts. Surely you can see that?

The assets from Essendon were instrumental in getting both the pick 16 and Schache deals done. It's why some on here were asking those who were losing their heads to just chill and wait until 2:00pm Thursday. You can't judge a trade period for years probably, but you certainly can't judge it before it's even finished.

He was at a shit team too, let’s remember that, also homesick, so hopefully a lot of upside for us!

I feel physically ill after that final hour of trades.
Look forward to watching some of Schache's highlights...

Can you imagine being an Essendrugs supporter and watching Stringer's highlights video knowing that he's coming to play for them.
f##k I'm jealous

There was some awful trading this year.

Pick 2 for Weller and 2 first Round picks for Gibbs are both outstandingly bad. Props to Carlton and Freo (and WTF to GCS and Crows).

Kind of puts the stringer thing into context.
Pick 10 and 16 for a 29 year old Bryce Gibbs is the worst trade in history in my opinion

Biggest thing I learned is that the threat of taking a player back isn’t real.

Weller (admittedly they got a great deal), Stringer, Schache, Watts all got done.

Easy for me to say but the sooner the players see it as a business decision to be put on the trade table, the better

So we keep picks 9 and 16 and bring in Schache Trengove and Crozier. Anyone still wanna hate???
YES! The club is in ruins! The monkeys are in charge of the zoo! Our negotiators couldn't trade for a packet of popcorn! Sack the lot of them! BF posters are lining up to apply for the job!

Gibbs too, albeit delayed by 12 months.

I think we were dudded on the specific Essendon trade (compare to Charlie Cameron for Pick 12) but not by a massive amount. What I am most unhappy about was the Carlton trade that gave away our future 2nd. That was an insanely bad deal from our point of view.
