Rather than recruit Lobb, the best outcome would be to recruit a genuine ruck and play English as a forward/ ruck. Unfortunately looks like that’s long odds to happen
Imagine we had a Nank like ruck bull to help our midfield and English played in his proper position, ie ****ing anywhere but the ruck contest.

Never going to happen though

GWS offering up Nick Haynes 😮

Dare I say it.. gun CHB?

Build the backline around this guy, he would be the best contested/intercept marker in defence in the league hands down.

Start as soon as this week tbh, but next year alongside two big bodies in Jones & Keath and he’ll be brilliant there.

Any lack of pace over the first few steps is made up for with great closing speed and a hugeee reach, he will be unbeatable one on one once he fills out, and his elite reading of the play will make watching Gardner/Cordy getting constantly caught out of position look like a local footy player within about 5 weeks of AFL footy

I’m fascinated by what we do with him. I am absolutely praying we don’t throw him around like Lewy Young.

If De Kooning can do it at Geelong, Darcy can do it.

If Darcy can fill CHB with Jones and Keith next year, we should also be focusing on our smalls back there. Doc is on his last 12 months. We don't have many options on the list to become that lockdown type for small/mediums.

Out of the blue - but could Garcia transition to a role as a small lockdown defender? Hard as a cat's head, great defensive instinct, and desperation in the contest. Wouldn't mind it trialed at some stage.

I’d be moving Caleb out of there asap too. Elite by foot but a Defensive liability.

Richards, Cleary, Dale, Doc, Williams (if need be) is probably enough for now but can easily pinch one in the draft.

If he came discounted from both a contract and/or trade price perspective then it's an obvious yes. He's on 650-700k though and with his current output, it's a significant risk.

Haven’t watched him much this year but his numbers have fallen off a cliff. Always a bad sign for an aging player that has relied on athleticism.

Who plays on the Stengle, Cameron, Papley types? After Doc, we don't have someone that covers that type of player.

Well Richards can cover those types. A few people have mentioned it before but I’d genuinely be looking at a McLean move to the defensive half to take over Duryea’s role moving forward. I definitely think he has the tools to make it work long term.

I really have not liked Caleb’s year at all. It’s been ordinary on both sides of the ball. I feel more comfortable with Dale & Ed as our main two attacking options.

I’m all for revamping our entire back 6 next year. It hasn’t worked at all.

McLean Keath Jones
Dale Gardner Richards
Buku/Cleary/Crozier/any versatile medium defender

That seems close!

I don't think McLean has the athleticism to play back particularly now after coming off his knee injury. He looks very slow.
