As much as Jones will help our defensive depth, we still really need a mid size defender that is solid 1v1 and overhead. Should have been Williams but he’s broken.

We paid up for TOB but he hasn't worked out.

Not sure Cleary has the 1v1 chops yet. O’Brien and Khamis are more third KPDs, I mean someone more like Maynard.

Hunter on a 5 year deal was always a bad move. He was never the sort of player that should’ve commanded a 5 year deal to begin with and his off field problems have been fairly out there is entire career.

It was off the back of a bnf and he deserved a decent contract based on performance (3 years).

5 year deals imo should be reserved to the very best players in the comp or key position players. They certainly should never be awarded to players with off field problems.

I find it crazy that Melbourne offered brayshaw 6.

Heard that even Bont was more than a little upset with Bev at one point after Bev spoke to the media about the soreness he was experiencing late in the year.

Dunkley was our best player by a long way in the second half of the year.

If there’s any truth of him working out because of cultural issues then our door is probably shut for some time as this has to be addressed.

Making it public knowledge probably guaranteed Bont received attention he mightn’t have otherwise. And god knows he’s had enough on his plate this year playing banged up from its early days. And makes it seem like excuse making at a time of year where most players are sore.

Wouldn’t mind Bont stepping up and making demands. Like every year he carried us more than he should considering his injuries and the midfield help he should have. It was a wasted year of his prime and he should be very pissed.
