No recruiter never misses. Stop setting up strawmen.
Also Taylor was a scumbag it wasn't lack of talent that saw him delisted. Disingenuous mentioning him. And Gould was a second round pick.
How is it disingenuous? They were the 3 players he also picked in that draft all before Warner. Thats 1 hit 1 meh but poor for top 5 and 2 misses. You can't over value his hits and undervalue his misses

Would someone be able to PM me the screenshot of Dunks' dad's post on here?
I remember hearing he had posted something on this forum two years ago. Is that what you're referring to, or was there a more recent post? FWIW, I don't know the post either but I'd like to know if someone could also PM me.

They're all old and not on huge cash it's not hard they'll also do what we are with Lobb and extend to smooth it out
If you believe the jungle drums, the Cats have a very even pay structure and part of the deal of going there is that you take unders to make sure everyone gets a lick of the icy pole. In return you get to play finals nearly every year, have relative anonymity and a life by the beach in Torquay, cos let's face it, they don't live in Geelong. While everyone wants big bucks, $200k per year is still bloody good coin and i reckon we would all be surprised at what some of the players they've attracted down there over recent years would actually be on

I take all of those points, but I don't buy it. I would push more towards the Carlton Visy type of set up.

I really don’t understand this why do they accept Jeremy Cameron on $900.000 if the rest are on peanuts?

I think we can be naive and dismiss it however if you look at it as a whole, Property prices are lower, Lifestyle is quieter and more relaxed, still play multiple MCG games and big games each year with more closer to home at GMHBA which is the only genuine home ground in Vic

Have the people who are bagging out Hunter now never been a fan?

He’s never been a great kick.
He’s never been quick.
He’s never been a good set shot.

He has always been the clubs fittest runner.
He has always been the best defensive runner in our midfield.
He’s always been a great mark for his size.
He’s always been a great accumulator.

If it’s for off field stuff that people want him gone that’s cool, I’m not gonna pretend to know what happening like most do. But maybe we should focus on what a player does offer instead of what he doesn’t? You can’t have a team of 22 Marcus Bontempelli’s.

Just read some of the reaction to JJ staying… god some of you are pricks. JJ will be on stuff all now and is a best 22 forward. He’s done well the last two years when on the park.
Kicked more goals than Naughton in the final. IMO he needed to stay particularly if we are losing Dunkley and Hunter

Nah man the game has gone past hard running, intelligent players with great hands who get plenty of the ball.

Have you seen property prices in Torquay and other Bellarine towns recently? Farm-land/rural properties in the region, which the ABC ran an article on the weekend saying it was the attraction for Hawkins, Cameron, and Stanley amongst others, is also through the roof. I agree with your other points, but those guys have foregone a $2-3 million property in Melbourne for similar prices of larger tracts of land on the Bellarine. Properties which come with larger running costs than suburbia too - Hawkins has 40-odd black Angus cattle on a 62 hectare property. The fencing and top-up feed bills alone would make people's eyes water on here.

I'm really hoping we adopt a more attacking game plan next year so keeping JJ and losing Hunter would not worry me if that was going to be the case.
I can also see losing Dunkley and bringing in someone like Bergman being a net win if we start trying to move the ball more offensively.

Obviously the flip side of this is we need to restructure our midfield set-ups so that others are doing the defensive work that Dunkley and Hunter have been doing, but in a team of high quality professional mids this should be a coaching directive rather than a personnel issue.
For what it's worth in his first two seasons at Collingwood Treloar averaged more tackles across a season than Dunkley ever has. Maybe with his buddy on the way out Treloar can go back to doing some more of the heavy lifting.

Hunter was a Essendon supporter as a kid, his cousin played for them. I think it likely he might end up there, and agree Lloyd is trying to bring his price down. I don’t think Lloyd ever got over us saying no to them getting Dunks, has been a bit of a campaigner towards us since.
Ah Essendon. Where all our troubled former stars go to play out their careers in spongey floored obscurity....

Well i'll be buggered if i'm going to be eating crickets when that bastard is setting himself up with carbon producing cows and a fridge full of eye fillet for when the apocalypse comes...oh wait, wasn't it supposed to be last Saturday...
