Hunter was a Essendon supporter as a kid, his cousin played for them. I think it likely he might end up there, and agree Lloyd is trying to bring his price down. I don’t think Lloyd ever got over us saying no to them getting Dunks, has been a bit of a campaigner towards us since.
His two McVeigh cousins are now assistants at GWS and Sydney, he no longer has any connections at Essendon. (Apart from Stringer?!)

I think Lloyd is a campaigner to us all the time. F*** him. We hold Hunter and only let him go for the price WE want.
Hunter will be like Stringer and go for whatever we can get and we will be lucky to get that. Essendons pick 40 is about right

Hunter signed his last 5-year contract extension in early 2019, coming off his 2018 BnF, and it was on decent coin.

If we get another club to take on 2 years of his contract in full, pick 40 would be a steal for us.

He was a fantastic player 3/4 years ago and I don't think many of us forget that. The reality is the game has gone past him as a player and his skill set is no longer what is required. Tom Mitchell is a brownlow medalist and is in the same spot
He was a fantastic player last year. Ridiculous call.

It's not his job overall no but on late speculative picks having input isn't out of the question and in the end here he was right. It didn't cost us the best recruiter in the game at all the overrating of Dalrymple here is on another level, he is a good recruiter sure but he isn't head and shoulders the best in the comp he just isn't a liability like Dodoro and SOS
Input is fine but getting everyone but the boot studder to have an equal vote as our full time recruiter is not. It's devaluing and a horrible professional culture.
You are also wrong on Dalrymple. He is in the top handful of recruiters in the game and has been since he became a full time recruiter. His record stacks up favourably against anyone.

If Hunter is smart. He will get out of Melbourne and GWS would be perfect.
Premiership hero need to start afresh.
Not more self indulgence Essendon would provide.Stringer doesn't looks like a man refreshed,he should have gone interstate.

Hunter was awful last season his kicking is a liability and he got beaten by quicker younger wingman, He had one good game against the giants

Absolutely, we’re picking the wrong types. For example, the Dees picking up Hannan from Footscray a few years ago is a good pick despite him not completely coming on. He’s a great size, super quick and can take a good mark (similar to Fritsch).

Picking short, slow midfielders with poor skills is the worst mistake you can make.
This^ The VFL mids in general who have been overlooked have been overlooked for good reason. Slow, timid, poor disposal, endurance, there's good reason.
Bigger players often mature later or have been pigeon holed.
Mids like McComb etc will never be anything more than good VFL types. It's pointless wasting picks on those types.
Better to look at an indigenous small fwd or beanpole ruckman. You might get lucky and Jag something that isn't Farmland vanilla.

Not at all. He was brilliant last year. Far more efficient and one of the big reasons our defence played well with his help running and positioning.

How? How could Geelong possibly in the market for this?

Hello...AFL? Wanna have a look at their books?

We should be all over this. All over it.

Geelong love restructuring contracts with paycuts

Not breaking any rules according to CBA ruling

In his 10 games this year, he averaged 19.5 disposals, 3.6 i50's, 1.2 rebound 50s, 2.6 tackles. Not exceptional however with the interrupted season, by no means terrible either. He had a very good 2021

When we bring up the Chad Warner types for Dalrymple can we please also include the 3 players he picked before him in Elijah Taylor (delisted) Will Gould (Yet to play) and Dylan Stephens (Pick 5 very iffy Serong 3 picks later) He has a very good track record for sure but the way we are going on here it's as if he never misses either

Last year he was decent but wasn't anything special last season he was dreadful
Obviously 2022 he was not great. He has had some much publicized off-field dramas.
It's not like it's an injury or age. To say the game's gone past him when he was a valuable player just last year in 2021 is a ridiculous call. If you are serious you should admit at least that.

No recruiter never misses. Stop setting up strawmen.
Also Taylor was a scumbag it wasn't lack of talent that saw him delisted. Disingenuous mentioning him. And Gould was a second round pick.

In 2021 he was a solid contributor by 2022 the game has well and truly gone past players like him and no its not a ridiculous call, Matt Crouch former AA 27 can't get a game in bottom 4 team not much interest in him accumulates no speed or kicking skills, Tom Mitchell 29 former Brownlow medalist 2 x AA will be traded for a 3rd and salary dump again accumulates no speed no kicking skills, Hunter is the same with less accolades
