My point with the Bowes and 7 deal is with Dunkley going we have a chunk of our cap gone and with first rounder (maybe two) coming back, here's a chance to set ourselves up for years.

Take it Dogs. Get in there. Geelong just off a flag should be nowhere near this but they slink in there and jump the rest of the clubs like ours who twiddle our thumbs.

Right, so there's no other factors?

I'll keep that in mind next time dogs win or lose a controversial game
You could easily have said "they were a fair chance not to beat Richmond"

They were within a goal at every interval, and the most it ever got out to was 3 goals for all of 5 minutes. Why "shouldn't they have even beaten Richmond either"?

I'm ok with Dunks winning the Sutton medal then getting traded. I don't know how many players of late we've lost on their downward ebb cheap, for them to improve the next year at their new club and heralded as a "bargain".

Lets squeeze Lions for all its worth and hopefully he's peaked :D

This is absolutely not what we want or need. We need to be active and get our deals done ASAP.

Draft picks can be traded all the way up to on draft day

So unless we got a player in mind, we can do some deals after Dunks moves on the last day

I think from both our and Lions end, other deals will need to be done before we both know exactly what we need to pay/receive.

If Dunkley gets done any earlier than the 2nd last day I'd be surprised.

Was there an injury or something with Crozier that I’ve completely forgot about?

One of the most random drop-off’s ever otherwise, as he was one of our best and dependable defenders for what 2 seasons or so?

Like it would make sense if he just got old or whatever, but hitting what should be his peak years at 27-28 and then nothing.

Strange.
There was an injury a year or two ago and he just never looked the same after it. Can’t remember details but Shoulder/AC joint rings a bell. He also had the fainting episode later on as well.

He did his shoulder in the pre-season game at Marvel against the Dees and never looked like it after that

He plays nice. It's the reason he'll never be a Kennedy or even a Watson. He doesn't have the aggression despite having the frame and talent.
Look at Cripps steamrolling people with that size. Dunks not that big but just doesn't have that mentality, when he really should be ragdolling most other mids in the middle.

Im more than happy to let Dunks walk to the PSD if Brisbane can't cough up..

I trust Sam Power would have the same mentality that Brisbane will need to blink first

I hope we spread some of the Dunkley money out front loading across our core mids and prep ourselves for a decent pay rise for Naughts, Darcy and JUH in the next couple of years. If their trajectories continue I think JUH and naughts will be heavily targeted by the campaigners at Tullamarine in particular. Good chance to bank some funds in preparation.

Cripps is 195cm and 93kg, Dunkley is 191cm and 91 kg. So not a huge difference there. Difference is attitude.
Rhylee West is 180cm and 81kg and I would rather take a hit from Dunkley 100 times out of 100.

One thing that Bevo said last night that has really made me happy (and I’m paraphrasing) is how we aren’t going to be a club that overpays players. Everyone will receive their fair share.

We simply can not be stuck in the mode where we rely on money to hold players. The opening fifteen minutes of the best and fairest, and the clubs approach to indigenous people is a step I’m incredibly proud our club has taken to create an environment where people will just want to be.

You can’t keep them all though and some will be motivated by their pockets. Geelong lost Tim Kelly, for example.

Ewan Macpherson is about the same size as West and I'd hate to take a hit from him either.

There seems to be a huge danger with that method these days. Not saying any of our players will do this but there seems to be a trend of players receiving front loaded contracts then trying to exit the club before their smaller backend payments kick in.

The Western Bulldogs have made clear Josh Dunkley is worth well in excess of a single first-round pick as they prepare to secure Liam Jones on a three-year deal as early as Friday.
The Dogs are open to a range of scenarios in a trade to Dunkley to Brisbane that could include players and early picks from this year or the 2023 bumper draft.

Cats would be extending his contract and spreading it out. No way they pay 850k a year based on their rules and culture.
Given he’s on a backended contract, he’s already earned some of the money. Adz had same issue with Pies but even doubled up with the back ending. Bowes would be mad falling into this trap unless he’s real keen over success (never a given).
