Nope he did it on 900k a year over 3 years and that was considered the almost end of first at the time.
And then they conveniently renegotiated his deal to add an extra 2 years, after just one year, bringing the total value down much lower.

Was a flipping absolute rort and a joke they were allowed to get away with it - it’s really opened the door up for more teams to rort the system

Yeah very good question. Something definitely seems off. Bevo has had a frustration about him all year I reckon.

I'm never one to bash a player or our coach EVER, but ill say this now, if I could click my fingers and wish something id say thanks Bevo its been great but your time is up and go see If Al wants to coach this list?

Not amicable at all, but the reason (B-Mac) is no longer there.

I'm actually comfortable with signing more than one KPD. I'd seriously ask about Josh Walker - good size, probably has two years left, would cost very little.

We can target a gun defender and a solid journeyman like Walker as well. Keath won't be able to stay on the park for 22 weeks next year.
I've always thought similar with Walker he isn't a star but does a solid job. Beat Hawkins in the first half a fortnight ago before weight of numbers caught up on him has the bulky size and the ability to play on the monster forwards we are seriously lacking down their too. We need 1 genuine starter as well as one like him as competition for the Gardner types and still draft some bloody talls to develop.

He also wont cost a trade pick as he is FA and should be cheap. Him and a good key defender like Logue will fix the key back problems.

I can't recall a full decent spine in my time at the Bulldogs. We've always been just one tall away from a decent spine, going back to the 80s.

If we miss out on Lobb we still might have a half decent F50 if we can nurse Bruce through a year.
Keath will miss games next year so I'd really look at a couple of KPDs and draft tall as well.

I'm pretty bullish on West and Garcia so not set on adding too much to our running stocks, noting VDM has played a fair bit too. I also think Scott can be a decent wing option.

I'd consider Ewan McPherson as a speccie BP option too

I’ve thought a few times this year that Walker is possibly the worst player in the AFL that would still improve our side.

I like the look of Macpherson, he could definitely play a tagging, specialist stopper roll. Kids tough as nails.

Also like the look of Gilbee. Loved watching his uncle play and he shares a lot of traits with his kicking. Wouldn't be against throwing a rookie spot at him. If he could learn the craft he would be an awesome winger with his kick. Alternatively if he stays as a backman he could free up Dale to play elsewhere and use his kick going into the fwd line... maybe we could hit some leads or at least kick to advantage.

On a side note, and I hate speaking I'll of the dead, but with Noble stepping down I reckon this would be the time to approach Ben Mackay. Offer some stability and a guaranteed role along with decent (but not over the top) coin and who knows. They will likely want a first for him and if Dunks goes, we can possibly split that for a couple of later ones and use one of those with the other to be used in negotiations with Freo.

He’s a free agent end of 2023. North will be shit again and he’ll get a big contract likely landing them pick #2 as compensation.

It’ll be hard to offer them something this year that is more compelling than pick #2 in 12 months time. The again, this is the same mob that basically traded a start of 2nd round pick for Coleman-Jones.

Freo won’t get a first for Lobb. IF we split a first rounder into later first rounders, we will take it to the draft.

Watching the VFL highlights this morning I saw Kai Stretton bob up a bit.

Mid size, hard enough, reasonable story getting his crack at the big time….recruited from St Bede’s - FMD.

‘Welcome to the Western Bulldogs - Kai Stretton’.

I was more thinking as a way to try for Logue and Lobb. Later first and something else. Don't know how they rate him though.

What are the thoughts on a full Bruce KPD pre-season if we manage to land Lobb? I'm very much against moving Naughton back but more open to trialing Bruce only if Lobb is brought in. KPF's for next year would be Naughton & Lobb with JUH/Darcy/Buku/Schache filling the 3rd tall spot.

It was early on in his career, but he's failed at two clubs as a KPD. At the Giants he was traded because he was no good as a KPD and couldn't get a go up forward because of Cameron, Patton, Boyd, Falou. Then at the Saints he started out as a KPD and got dropped. He then shifted forward very late in the year and never looked back. In fact, he kicked 50 goals the following year. He's just a way better forward.

I would honestly rather Jamarra move down back.
