Billings would be a total waste of a spot on our list.
We'd be better off punting on a kid with a late draft pick or getting a VFL player in a position of need.
If the club does this trade it just sets us back further.
Throw in the talk of giving up next year's first, then madness and incompetence truly reign at the Whitten oval.

I’m not a fan of Billing’s, and both of them are bloody injury prone which is not exactly what we need. But he’s still an upgrade on some of the crap we roll out - really nervous about what we’d spend on them both too. Worth a shot as a freebie with a fair bit of upside but can see us overpaying a bit, if we can somehow work them into what we give up for 4 ie downgrading picks before sending them to GC etc I’d feel a lot more comfortable.

Can’t afford to spend any decent picks on them though when we need youth.

So you'd rather we bring in duds like McNeil over someone who has actually performed at the level?

Give me Billings that’s played 100+ games at AFL level then a kid or a VFL player

The trade would be centred around a future 3rd.

ALL-AUSTRALIAN IN NO HURRY TO EXTEND

TIM ENGLISH is in no rush to kickstart contract talks at the Western Bulldogs, as the supremely talented ruck prepares to enter a season where he will be among the biggest free agents in the game.

The Bulldogs big man is coming off a career-best season this year, recognised with All-Australian honours for the first time, and will hit his free agency campaign next season when his deal expires at the end of 2024.

Speaking on AFL.com.au's trade and draft show Gettable earlier this year, Bulldogs list manager Sam Power said the club would look to begin talks over extending English "as early as possible" to avoid speculation about his future.

However, the ruckman's agent Andrew McDougall from Corporate Sports Australia said English's sole focus remained on ensuring he was fit and healthy heading into the upcoming pre-season.

"He's a free agent, so it does change things," McDougall told Gettable on Monday.
"The last conversation I had with him, he's really comfortable. He's looking forward to a big pre-season. Both him and Aaron Naughton were really keen to get the club into finals and will both be staying at the club next year.

"They really want to drive that club forward next year. Twelve months is a long time in footy, but at the same time they're just focusing on their pre-season, having a bit of a holiday and then heading off."

But, despite confirming that English – as well as Naughton – would be at the Bulldogs next season, he was noncommittal in putting a timeframe on when the ruckman would start discussions with the club over an extension.

"He [English] has got a few moving parts," McDougall said.

"His partner [Rudi Ellis] was with the West Coast Fever last year in Perth. He's got a property here in Melbourne, but also she's got a property in Perth. There are a number of factors, so a lot of things change.

"But, at the same time, he just wants to focus on his pre-season. It's probably too early to have any type of dialogue at the moment, so we're just going to wait for a while to get things moving and see how he settles in for the start of the year." – Riley Beveridge
LMAO spare me, he's a professional athlete coming off an injury free year, no sh*t. Expect a lot of this BS in the next year, the last part kills me, he's officially out of contract as 2024 has for all intensive purposes started.

Looks like Coffield will request a trade this week or early next week.
Dogs have also spoken to Billings management about his willingness to smooth out his current 2 year contract over 3 years, plus incentives for games played.
Coffield worth a gamble, wonder if it means releasing Bailey Dale on a wing? Feel like Dale down back has run its course, the second someone sits on him he disappears. Billings would be a good get if his salary is smoothed out.

The Bailey Smith stuff isn't going away

Think dogs might consider offering him a extension during the trade period and see what his future plans are
If he wants out I’d be happy if we could winkle the hawks first rounder for him. Don’t want him headed to Geelong - bad pick in no mans land after the extra north and GC picks push it back. He can stay the full year otherwise and see where Geelong falls next year. We’d get Dursmaa or McKercher with the Hawks pick which I could live with for Bailey.

According to you half our list is rubbish. Now you think Billings is ok?
McNeil is a dud, yes. And Billings isn't much better. And for 500k? F***ing crazy.

Billings has had games of 30+ and at least two goals five times in his career, imagine one of the wing options at the club right now doing that once. He's the type of player who could be a complete bust or become a bargain buy.
So he's done that 5 times in 11 years?

Maybe I've been watching a different player.

$1m left smoothed over 3 years is a no brainer for me, the average AFL wage is $400k+
We’ve got one advantage in that Lade has been across Coffield and Billings for a number of years. He’ll be well placed to let us know what we are getting and what the potential might be.

For everybody on the Billings train.

Most of you I hope, would agree we have a better list than Sh**Kilda.

If that's the case and Ross Lyon is happy to let him go, it's because Ross Lyon thinks Billings is crap.

Let that sink in. Their midfield is rubbish and he's prepared to let Billings go.

And we now think as soon as Bevo lays his hands on him, he'll become a gun?
