Is John noble any chance of being pryed out?

JJ coming to the end with constant soft tissue injuries.

That's the set up I'd be going with until Buss is ready.
I’d be pretty keen to change it up a bit from round one & do something like Jones, JOD, Ed, Coffield, Williams, Cleary, JJ as the 7 defenders & Dale to the wing.

Ed, Coffield & Williams can all defend & play on smalls or talls. JJ & Cleary the two main distributors. Dale on a wing really needs to be tried IMO, we just have to get some offensive value out of a wing.

Is Coffield & Ed enough height & marking power to make the 2 tall defence viable? Ie Jones, JOD, Coffield, Ed and then 3 runners
I’d only have two runners and another medium sized defender who can play taller. We could still redeploy Bailey Williams if we needed to or even Cleary.

Get Coffield & Watson and leave it at that, round 1 team:

Cody Marra Lobb
West Naughty Watson

Treloar Libba Dale
English Bont Baz

Red JOD JJ
Coffield Jones Williams

Daniel Macrae Cleary & 1 of Poulter, Gallagher, AJ as a wing rotation

That’s pretty bloody strong & balanced IMO - you can’t tell me that side can’t compete

If we don't get Coffield I'd look at Ruscoe as a DFA. We need to get the defence mix balanced, Jones and JOD, one of Buss, Coffield, Ruscoe and three of Dale, Richards, JJ, Cleary, Duryea.
I'd go back to having Smith and Treloar split time Inside and Wing, Daniel starting at HF and float behind the contest.

I thought Coffield was going to nominate us? Disappointing if he doesn't.

I'd love to add Leake into the backline

As of yesterday I was told it's just a formality. Things can change though I guess, Robertson was said to have told people at Brisbane he was leaving before changing his mind and signing for 2 more years so I dont want to get my hopes up.

Maybe. Its been a long time since I've seen him but Coffield hasn't really been used as a key defender/third tall. In 2020, when he had his best season, they had Carlisle, Howard and Wilkie, and then he was sort of the rangy half back interceptor. He's the same size as Nathan Murphy, Broad, Doedee all these guys so no reason he can't do it but feel like it could be a bit susceptible.

Yep same, but I’d give Baz first preference to start the year with more inside time and give him the chance to perform. I think he’s in for a big year. If he doesn’t step up then Treloar can have his minutes back.

Agree completely on CD, he should be used as a utility to mop up ground balls ie floating behind stoppages, push back to help defence, front & centre up forward etc

Not significantly less. I’d still expect a top ten pick for him next year.
And in doing so give ourselves an extra year to turn around both his form and desire to stay at the Bulldogs (assuming he currently really is thinking about leaving). No brainer.
