Having a think about it how sure are we Hawks take Duursma 🥲 Watson is a bloody good fit for them. Bruest finishing up, Brockman gone. Need forwards and lots of em and he suits their style. Surely we’re pretty sure they don’t take him, I’d be okay with Duursma but pretty spewing to be honest

Might be part of the thinking in getting rid of F1 too if it's at risk of getting eaten into.

Assume it's on the basis of being almost free/3rd rounder.

How do we get back in? An F2 and two F3s are all we have.
Unsure
All I know is dogs want back in and Power has basically free reign this trade period to better our club

2 top 6 selections over pick 1. All day every day.

Hypothetically if hawthorn offer pick 3 it’s really pick 5 with GC zone selection and North compo, so more would have to be offered.

Additional picks from somewhere for starters.
It'd be hard to pass up pick 3/4 and their future first for baz and our future second.
Would also give us more freedom in trading our other future picks.

Very keen to trade back in, not sure how we’d do it though.

If we managed to pull off Watson, Croft, 2nd rounder & Lual, on top of Coffield & Harmes - that would be a monster off season to be honest. Wouldn’t even be fussed about next years hand

We already said no to pick 3 so it'd take something rather convincing and I dare say only Hawks would have the currency to do it.
Could see it being possible that we’d accept Pick 3 + Hawks future 2nd. Then allows us to use a future 2nd and future 3rd to live trade back in this year.

Though not sure how keen I’d be on the Hawks pick 3 in general now, since it almost certainly would mean it’s spent on Duursma or Sanders, neither being “worth” losing Baz for.

If we trade back in I think it'd be for Collard. The club are pretty confident of lual slipping outside 40.

Don’t think we would get that from Hawthorn. If that was the deal I’d let Smith go.

Hawthorn really impressed me this season. They’ve got to be the best third bottom side for quite a while.

I think they’re well aware that they are still early in their process. It would be ludicrous if they gave away pick 3 and a future first. Odds are that it will be top 4 again even with their future looking promising.

P3 & F1 for Baz & F2, IF Norf don’t get pick 3 so we definitely get McKercher & IF Baz makes it clear he’s not sticking around. Is the only trade I’d be happy with to be honest, otherwise not interested.

Take McKercher & Watson then deathride Hawks and hope for another pick 5 mid next year

I don’t want to lose Baz it’d ****ing suck, but it does sort of make sense - we’ve traded out our F1, we’re targeting a mid in Harmes & we wanted this trade done day 1 so we have time to **** around. It’s sort of playing out that way

The club love Collard but I'm not sure if that is as a back up for if Hawks take Watson?
Hawks taking Watson would be disastrous if it left us with Duursma. Really hope that doesn’t happen. Happy to see us do this all-in deal for Watson or McKercher, but sure as shit wouldn’t be happy with Duursma

Would take some hefty balls from the Hawks to make a play like that. Though we have seen it pay off big time when Melbourne did the future 1st for the Kozi pick despite being near the bottom of the ladder. I imagine the Hawks have high expectations next year to not be finishing bottom 4 again, but I’m not seeing them taking that level of risk for Baz tbh. I do agree though - not happy with just Pick 3 this year, would need something big to come with it or else it’s simply not worth bothering

Why?

He’s a forward, pure and simple. Any talk of him becoming a midfielder is pure speculation given he’s shown minimal evidence of being worth an early pick if your intention is to play him in the middle. His upside is great - quick, skilled, good goal sense, but Watson just suits our needs SOOOO much better, with higher upside. Duursma doesn’t appear to have the contested game or defensive intent to make him a suitable choice for us.

If we didn’t have Weightman, then maybe I could see it with Duursma, but I just feel he’s a horrible pick for us given what we’ve just given up. It’s Watson or McKercher, otherwise I see this trade as a massive fail.

If and a big if baz isn’t happy I would rather the deal done this year

I think power has set the scene with Dunkley dramas to say to clubs don’t even bother if they are contracted and you don’t want to pay up

Harmes has a 3 year + 4th year offer from Dogs

Weighing up two other offers

Dogs will be paying full contract so likely moved pretty cheapy if he picks us

My guess would be
Sweet to Port
Dogs get F3rd

Saints get F3
Dogs get Coffield

Dogs trade Gold coast F3 for Harmes

I’d hope Sanders would be ahead of Duursma on our list.
