Doesn’t get reflected on the field.
I was just pointing out the part of the post that seemed to suggest it's a surprise players are nominating Essendon because their facilities are inside an airport.

Not sure how that would be a distraction. Neither good nor bad. But the facilities themselves are incredibly impressive.

They have three footy ovals FFS. One that replicates the dimensions of Marvel, another that replicates the dimensions of the MCG.

If hawks are offering or going to offer 3 plus a f1 and maybe something back with baz, then they are worried baz will choose geelong next year.

also, what time should i pick baz up and drop him off at Glenferrie?

Such a shame they've been hopeless on-field for the best part of 20 years.

They can have all the facilities in the world, but it hasn't made a scrap of difference because their culture has obviously been up the wazoo.

But they keep on 'winning' trade week so should really make them some sort of trophy for that.
Pretty much everyone they have signed, has gone on to play worse for them, than they did at their previous club. It is almost like, where careers go to die.

They will get 2 and 3. Fair chance wet toast trades pick 1 to them for 2 and something else... maybe 14
Agree.

Probs helps us too as norf get a mid (Reid) and wet toast take Curtin out. But who do norf take at 3(4)?

North - Reid
GC - Walter (match bid)
WC - Curtin
North - ?
Hawks - Duursma if there
Us - looks like McKercher or Watson should be there.

McKercher might slide in this scenario - unless North take both Reid and McKercher which seems midfield overkill.

I haven't heard this directly from any Essendon players, but the feedback I got about 12 months ago from an Essendon staff member is a lot of the players would be happy to spend more time at the Hangar than their house. I'm guessing that might be somewhat true for players that don't have families.

That's important to some players, I guess. While some players value on field success, others value a different type of happiness which you probably get from attending work at an elite world class facility.

I'd say no to Ginnivan. Taking drugs while on a pre season camp is just incredibly stupid and suggests he'd be using way more than the average player. I don't think we need another guy like that
Going to the races the night before the grand final says it all.

Has some talent but a total muppet. Didn’t perform at all on the day either.

Happy to look elsewhere.

Six out so far:

Bruce
Hannan
O’Brien
McComb
Raak
Sweet

Potential ins:
Pick 4
Croft
Coffield
Harmes
Backup Ruck
Category B Rookie (or no one, Raak’s list spot)

Means if we want anything other than this, including late picks, we will need to cut some others. Be interesting to see who is on the chopping block (i.e. if we want Ginnivan, some other mature player and/or a second/third round pick of some description)

Out of contract players:
Bedendo
R Smith
McLean
Crozier
McNeil
Duryea

Means any additional player needs to be weighed up against players from the list above.

McNeil Roarke and Crozier are the easy 3 then McLean if a 4th is needed

I'm sure the Hangar is a cutting edge facility.

Strange that they have the money for such a facility, yet can't employ anybody who has the capacity to save a simple spreadsheet.

Wealthy clubs will always have something to sell. To young, impressionable men things like A Grade facilities and Anzac Day are selling points, and Geelong and Sydney sell lifestyle, so we need to make our own selling points.

I will say that it never seems like Essendon has massive competition for the players they target. I don’t think they are that great at identifying players who will help them (because ultimately they rarely do).

The new WO will help and we have played finals regularly with the odd very good year. We do manage to snare good role players regularly (Bruce, Keath, Jones, Crozier etc) too.

It might be honestly that trying to target big fish is a losing game for us (as much because we might have to pay more or offer longer deals) and we’re best of drafting top end talent and trading for role players.

Ginnivan won’t be the first or last AFL player that has gotten in trouble for taking drugs

Forgetting about the price for a minute, we all agree we have a great top end and a lot of us think we have a good enough list to compete. We’ve added another very high end pick who should be able to impact early and from the sounds of things going to round out our bottom 6 with some new role players who seem to fit what we need.

If the rest of trade period plays out as expected and we get the off field moves right I’m going to be very bullish heading into next season to be honest.

We need to pinch a flag in the next two years.
We certainly should be top 4 finishes in the next 3 to 4 years, gives us a better chance at a flag

If the Hawks are offering pick 3 and a future 1st for Baz, absolutely taking it as he may never reach his previous heights he did as that was for such a short time.

Harmes, as long as he does not use much collateral is fine not an area we have much depth in, only Libba.

Ginnivan, would have to cost nothing but am far from convinced about Clarke or Jones and Weightman will never be a genuine small forward so no matter who we draft it is a need if we want to challenge in the year coming up.

JUH and English signing, draft well and this could be some good business this trade and draft period whilst still being in a strong position going forward

It is a good problem to have,

FB:Buss
CHB:JOD
CHF:Naughts
FF:Marra
R: Darcy
INT: Croft

What a spine and potentially still have English in there we are set for a decade
Taking the piss a bit putting Buss at full back. Spine is looking great but still some water to go under the bridge down back, I'm not sure that final piece is on the list yet.

Keeping ‘big fish’ is better than trying to secure ‘big fish’ from other clubs.

I’m assuming the AFL app has this very wrong, in this case it looks like we are getting back GCs first next year too

Yeah that’s wrong, but would otherwise be excellent
