I’m interested to see how we’re going to work the midfield next year. We’ve now got 4 guys who’s role may be the half forward who pushes up to the stoppage (Macrae, Smith, Daniel & Harmes).

I almost feel like someone needs to become a wing full time like a Treloar or Smith. Daniel’s best role is floating up to the stoppage. Macrae really does seem like the odd player out here. Harmes mighy play a similar role to Macrae but he adds much more speed and pressure than Jack does.

Likely pick 48 for Sweet, St.K have a preference for a Future Pick.

They can want a future 3rd but Coffield is out of contract and hasn't played in two years. I don't even want to go "oh we'll walk him to the PSD and take him" but it's quite literally he's out of contract and his value is at its very lowest.

The pick that we get from Port is probably the best that they'll get offered.

I don’t see them looking at position much at all, they’ll take best player.

Their young mids get a bit overrated as well I think. LDU clearly a gun, Simpkin is good but a B+ type not someone you change your recruiting strategy around, Wardlaw looks promising but still unproven especially injury-wise, Sheezel more a utility, jury out on Phillips and Powell. Lots of names but digging deeper it’s far from set and forget
Don’t be so sure. They chose Will Phillips over Logan McDonald.

I feel there is no real best available between Curtin Watson duursma Sanders, people rate Sanders behind the other 3 but I rate duursma behind the other 3 he has more tricks but nowhere near the consistency, so I think it's just preference at the end of the day

look at pies last year Hill Mitchell Mcstay Frampton role players that got them to a flag
Mitchell despite his flaws was far from a role player, averaged 28 touches a game in 2022, was forced out by the tank/youth movement at Hawthorn. The other guys though definite 16-25 guys who all had moments through the year.

Norf have the best offer for pick 1. If they don't have to trade for it they won't.

Hawthorn's offer isn't that good
Is Hawthorn's offer worth pick 2 though? I don't think it needs to be worth pick 1 for it to be worthwhile for West Coast in this case.

Given West Coast's supposed reluctance to select Reid the Hawks could get a relative bargain in a trade for the pick.

Again though, I'd reckon Eagles would only trade out of 1 if they know they are getting Curtin. They'd only know that if they trade with North (who have 2&3).

West Coast hold all the cards in any trade with North and have zero reason to do the trade before draft night.
