I'm not sure where the 80% figure came from. Possibly another case of AFL reporters discussing a matter and them creating a headline based on their own speculation. But clearly it's a point they're not dropping so the smoke is presumably coming from somewhere.
As usual, utterly gutter tier journalism. "80% chance to leave," followed by, "Yeah Bev was right this year so he's gotta have a good year, if he does, he could stay or be a free agent."

These guys share about half a neuron between them.

It's the dead period of the season and Smith would generate more clicks than anyone not named Daicos or Oliver right now
If they had integrity or an ounce of a skill set beyond "sensationalist dickweed" they would use this opportunity to write an article summarising Smith's drop in form this year, and what needs to be done to get him the opportunities he craves. Hell, get him on for an interview, because he's actually been very open about the situation this season.

... but they don't have either, so slinging shit and then wanking each other off when some of it sticks it is.

Is this same media that reported he was about to be on his way in the trade period that recently finished?

After checking my notes, I can see that Smith wasn’t traded.

Yeah but that's irrelevant when they just play both sides and are therefore entirely unaccountable. Like Ugle-Hagan, Bailey Smith had one foot in the door, lucky us!

Would be nice to lure McLuggage out of Brisbane but we probably don't have the cash unless we lose someone.

Other lower value options to look at would be Ollie Florent on a wing.
Blake Hardwick or Isaac Cumming as small defenders.

Don't watch a heap of football outside of the Dogs so I'm sure others would have a much better idea of who would be worth having a crack at.
Matt Taberner a good option for when JUH joins Sydney on a 10 year deal.

Dees have delisted Kye Turner after just one season. 21 year old Key defender.

Not an alcoholic or drug addict, so didn't fit the club culture.... :p

Wasn't McClure almost certain he was leaving this year, even after his manager came out and said they aren't even considering looking at other teams?

It's the dead period of the season and Smith would generate more clicks than anyone not named Daicos or Oliver right now

Example of McClure - he’s been saying Dusty is gone for years and years. This one immediately after trade week. Idiot.

Worth remembering that these media clowns spend 11.5 months of a year discussing and speculating about hypothetical player movement possibilities, reaching a crescendo of waffle at the beginning of October when Trade Radio finally starts up again. Then when you look at what actually happens over the trade period - 33 players moved clubs, of which a small handful were arguably of reasonable to ok quality (Adams, Grundy, Duursma, Ginnivan, Henry, Schultz, McKay, Doedee, Gresham = 9) and the rest were mostly fringe players traded for junk. No wonder they talk so much rubbish, because after so many months talking about it almost nothing of substance actually happens.

It's like this very thread running for hundreds of pages across a season for the result being we trade in one or two average players at best and maybe delist half a dozen, only these bozos do it for a living.

It’s so prominent because it is the one context where it is the commentator/reporter and their sources/opinions that are the centre of attention. The game speaks for itself and doesn’t have them centred.

They’re pathetic.

Smith has come 13th and 15th in the last two best and fairests, if he has another similar season it would be to imagine him getting a huge offer from anyone. He'd be a 24 year old with a highest best and fairest of 7th and zero individual awards and someone like Hawthorn is going to pay him more than Day or Newcombe? Has there ever been an example of a midfielder/mid sized forward producing so little yet maintaining such high value?

Top tier journalism. 4 other clubs are interested in Bailey Smith, therefore according to them he has a 20% chance to join each, which means he’s 80% gone.

Unfortunately for us, 17 others clubs are interested in JUH so he’s 94.5% gone.
