Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

I've said it for a while now that expect any pick deal or offers to happen on draft night. They'll wait to see how desperate the clubs are.

ROB certainly wasn’t convincing in his answers to keeping pick 1. Said what you would expect him to say - kept the door open without causing any headlines.

I wouldn’t call language like “I think so”, “probably” etc as being definitive that we’d keep pick 1.

If we get Flynn, what do people think of English next year? Would we still be interested? or would we just tell English to stay where he is?
I guess it depends on how the Flynn and BW combo works

But if BW continues to improve and Flynn can show he can be a solid B+ grade then no need for English, use the money else where

Rohan O’Brien to be on SEN with Gossage sometime between 6.00 and 8.00

As is his way, I doubt he gives too much away but it’ll be the first time since our season finished that we hear from anyone in a position of authority at the club

Should be worth a listen

AM or PM? Link isn’t opening for me.

Well you're not going to shut the door completely just in case someone wants to make a stupid offer.

Very much in the vein of keeping the pick though and it seems the likeliest outcome, considering he also said he's spoken with Reid and his family numerous times throughout the year.

He'd be negligent if he didnt leave the door open at this point in time.

There won’t be a mega pick 1 deal done on draft night, teams will want time to plan who they are drafting etc.

If pick 1 is traded it’ll likely happen in the trade period.

"We'll keep that selection & take it to the draft". Lock the thread folks.

As long as we get Flynn, I think next year we offer English minimum contract to get band 1 compo (850kish) Bulldogs take that because we aren’t offering a top 5 pick for English. If he’s that keen to get home then he takes 850k, becomes our #1 ruck with Flynn in support for 2 more years allowing BBW to develop his forward craft. Fast forward to end of 2026 and Flynn is off contract and Barnett is ready to ruck with English whilst BBW is playing mainly forward and chopping out in the ruck if needed. If Wnglish doesn’t want to come that’s fine, we have BBW, Flynn and Barnett.

By god I hate Gossage. Get O’Brien on then ask the most inane questions possible

I mean the question on pick 1 needed to be asked and he did as much as he could to get a definitive answer that wasn’t going to come- intent is to draft Reid unless something special is offered without getting a definition of what that would be

Acknowledged that we were not going to get Reid and Curtin which rules out doing something to get another high pick besides pick 1

Said again there’s no over riding preference for WA players

Flynn they’ve had good discussions with and are aware of interest from other clubs but expect a decision in the next day or two. Sounded reasonably confident

Will be looking at Collard and would like access before pick 40 and said there were other NGAs without naming anyone

No question on Brockman or Robertson or status of contracts with Waterman, Culley or Witherden or if anyone was likely to ask to be traded out or if we had interest in anyone else

So many questions that could’ve been asked but weren’t. Missed opportunity

That generally requires a competent interviewer

Yes that’s right push the deal as hard as we can.
End of the day we take Reid if no insane offer comes.
This doesn’t need to be a fair trade, it is not a priority pick that we have to trade or face potentially losing it.
Or that Reid or his management have said we are not interested in heading West which would completely change the landscape and the Eagles bargaining position.

Itd feel like we are just screwing around with Flynn, but I guess thats just where he is now. I agree this is what makes sense

I'd only expect it to be traded in trade week if some godfather offer arrived, if not then we'll go to the draft and perhaps that team who made an offer for pick 1 will decide to add to it. Might simply mean an addition of an extra first rounder.

From memory BBW is a horrible shot on goal. Not sure he is the CHF/FF we've been looking for.

He’s no JK but he’s not that bad. Has put through a few nice ones from long range.
Really no massive sample size though.

Either way, we need the ruck depth - if Bailey got injured we are looking at Jamieson or Barnett, backed up by Jack Williams. Oooft.

There's also a strong chance that it will be part of a bigger deal involving other clubs and players. Given players have to be traded during trade week you'd think the deal would need to be done before draft night.

Towards the end of the show, Gossage confirmed it was a pre-recorded interview, and they played more of the interview, but only in regards to Dev Robertson. Don't think he really gave anything away, other then conversations would now ramp up, now that the season is done. Reading between the minimal lines, i'd say he sounded ever so slightly more confident then not, but a complete guess.
I'd expect other questions were asked, why they didn't play the entire interview is anyone's guess.

I think it’s pretty likely an over the top offer will be ‘on the table’ -
fictional or otherwise - so we can be lambasted for years to come while they wait for Harley Reid to leave.

Sort of like how Hawthorn offered pick 5 in 2004 for Chris Judd…

Buddy was almost an Eagle

As if Pick 5 for the reigning 21 year old Brownlow Medalist was a great deal at the time….
