Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

In terms of picking up a player in next years draft I agree that a R3 pick is relatively inconsequential as it’s not overly difficult to get back in at that point

However, our R3 pick this year was used to trade for Brockman.

Other clubs were also able to use R3 picks to trade with clubs like Gold Coast for higher picks as they collected points for academy kids. Same thing will happen next year

I like Hall. Shapes as a solid citizen that could carve out a reputable career as a complimentary mid - good height, strong body, decent pace

In the end it was probably necessary to trade up given we didn’t want to miss someone we’d targeted but I’d rather we still had the F3
We should be able to get another R3 easy enough mate.

Based on nothing more than a gut feeling, I think Hall is going to end up way better than solid. He's big, strong, quick, has endurance and mongrel.

Can't wait see see out new midfield come together. Burgiel like a new recruit too

If nothing else our new midfield has grunt - looking forward to seeing it develop.

So here we are 12 months away and already 3 of the top 8 are FS and academy kids. FFS

That's why our future first could end up being anywhere in the 2-6 range, and not Pick 1 as lots seem to believe.

If we end up with Pick 3, and some other clubs really like the look of those FS or Academy kids, then matching could easily see it slide a few spots again.

Good morning, I was wondering if anyone here had any information on Lawson Humphries and if anyone has seen him play this year?
Liked him a few years back for Swan Districts and was surprised at the time we didn't cat b him. Haven't watched him recently though, but good mid sized defender.

Thanks for sharing

The A Reid comment that we considered him a top 15 talent confirms my guess that he was too good to pass up. Just hope our rankings are on the money as along with Hall and Johnstone we will have picked up 3 players rated in our top 5 30 which is a great result

Also like the bit about Reid rating Hall

Again, nice insights so thanks for sharing

Hey you've never thanked me for sharing :(

2-6 range next year is real juicy though 🤝

When the swelling and itching go down he might talk to you again.

Until then......

No Harley Reid's next year and a larger range of top end talent at least. We'll get a great prospect.

But I reckon we'll trade it for multiple picks.

I'd be upset at the lack of defenders drafted if this was the only draft during the rebuild.

Luckily it's not.

Kinda relieved at the lack of HBF with midfield potential tbh.

Half forward with half back potential.

Skill level, athleticism and work rate will take priority if players are of a similar or considered an equal talent level for a particular role.

Shouldn't this always be the case? Or rather, what does it mean for two players to be of equal talent, but one with better skill level, athleticism and work rate?

Could you give an example of a (real or imagined) toss-up between two players where this principle would come into play?

I had a mate that got invited to the eagles Vic draft event last night, most of the recruiters including ROB and Bell were in attendance. Some good info:

-Norths best offer was 2, 15, 17

-GWS didnt want the F1 for curtin cause they are obsessed with the 2 guys they drafted, so traded with crows to stay in the draft

-The other 14 teams are livid at the Qld and NSW handouts, no surprise

- Eagles had A Reid ranked in their top 15, were very surprised he slipped to 30. Thought he was too good to pass up or accept trades for pick 30. Bris were very keen the pick after

- Hall they were also very high on, had to move up as both essendon and tigers had shown interest. Interestingly, ROB also mentioned harley gave feedback saying he was the toughest opponent he played on during the year

- Johnston they had top 30 on their board

Also my mate asked ROB if they would have strongly considered 2 and 3 if north did offer it in some way. ROB said for sure, but they probably still would have taken Reid cause he interviewed even better than expected and doesnt seem bothered at all about moving.

You win.

Pantskyle and wce_phil - no pressure.

I reckon an example of this is us passing on Delean from SA and opting to get Rawlinson in the rookie draft. Delean scored way more goals this year and performed at a higher level but is slow and unfit.

The one thing not mentioned here re Loch Rawlinson is his defensive pressure, he works as hard defensively as he does in offence which is a requisite of the modern day AFL small forward. Great pick up as a rookie.

Well I mean he is completely wrong about what the offer was.

It involved 3 teams and not just north and Eagles.
