I would do Pick 13 for Kelly to keep maximising on our Premiership window for next year ..

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
I’ll be pissed if we trade pick 13 for kelly

Not because I think that would be overs but I’d be unhappy that we have pick 13

Here's a post on the Cats board about the T Kelly trade scenario -

Geelong will push again for at least a top 10 pick, possibly even more if Kelly’s form holds up. Maybe WC first this and next year may have to be settled for? I’d hope though that we could get more than that considering their likely end of year ladder position. Kelly may well be the player that could give them a dynasty. Do we really want to trade him to them anyway?!

McGovern and Gaff will have hoovered up too much of our cap I suspect. But surely GWS will offer him heaps anyway
.
I don't think that's the case at all. Kennedys pay is on a veterans list (not included in the cap I think , correct me if I am wrong), Nic Nat is on a reduced contract, Lycett and Lecca have freed up quite a bit of money. Will Schofield will probably be offered a 1 year deal at less money or delisted, Jackson Nelson, Kurt Murtimer, Frasier McInnes (they already delisted him then redrafted him as a rookie) will likely be traded for late draft picks or delisted, Brendon Ah Chee will go. I think WC have a bit to spend on another sizeable contract, maybe night quite a Mill but could be close. If WC went after Coniglio instead of Kelly they would not too far off but I don't think they will seriously go after Coniglio , more than likely they will get Kelly, without having to pay out a contract to Geelong and more than likely get him for 750K per season over 3 years and a couple of draft picks.

West Coast's salary cap is a thing of beauty.

At the end of 2017 with Priddis and Mitchell retiring and Wellingham and Hill finishing up we were supposed to finish last (hai Wallsy).

Gaff and McGovern attracted interest from elsewhere and are now both on $1m+ at least. Yeo, Shuey, Darling, Redden, Jetta etc. who all signed in 2017 or earlier (in Redden's case early 2018 coming off an ordinary first two years) are on huge money. Naitanui (who did actually sign a big contract in 2014) will be on huge money forever and there's no way his salary is reducing. Ditto Kennedy, Hurn etc. LeCras retired but evidently created 0 salary cap space.

The cap is $12.5m. I reckon if you added up all the "reported" figures you'd get to $15m easily.

Veterans only have 100k per individual per season outside of cap.

I think people seem to forget we were already paying gov and gaff it’s nkt like we are paying them 1mil extra per player. Gov was rumoured to be on about 500k 500-600k increase and gaff around 7-800k 200k increase it’s an easily manageable cap increase. Obviously you need to future proof your cap and there isn’t an infinite amount but I can’t see any reason why we couldn’t add either Kelly for 500-600k or cogs for around 800k

Veterans list payments outside the cap were abolished 2/3 years ago . Sydney had about 4 players on it at that time (malceski shaw McVeigh and goodes ) and they were also getting cola . It was part of the reason they got a trade ban .

Veterans list + cola sydney were getting 1mil more outside the cap than most other teams or = to 1 buddy franklin

Tim Kelly today... 9 disposals, 1 FA, 6 clangers going @ 33%.

^ is what happens if he cops any attention at all.

Even Masten-haters wouldn't be able to say that Masten has had a worse game than that in recent memory.

Not related to thread, but glad we didn't run into the Giants on this form. Kelly and Hopper back in make a huge difference to their ball movement.

He got an ankle injury late last week. I dropped him from my DT thinking he would be playing sore and production would drop........it did.
