Say you guys couldn't get May and desperately needed to add a key defender, would you consider pick 16 for Liam Jones and pick 26?
Not sure he fits that description - thanks anyway.

Which Liam Jones - The shit one for 70% of the season or the semi-footballer one for 30%?

Yeah, but you thought JDG was overrated too :p

LOL. Good Point

I reckon I'm an ok judge of where footballers are at, but I'm a crap judge of where they are going to get to. Most of the time, I tend to just talk about what I've seen and not their potential, unless of course when I forget my limitations and Adams style try to hit a 45 degree pass into congestion within the corridor - Danny Stanley comes to mind, Frost I thought just needed a better boot studder and our horribly zone to go. The names Sier and Stephenson make me ignore my limitations and since Darcy moved to defence, I've become a bit that way with him too - I was definitely the other way with him as a forward.

In terms of May and Lynch, I just don't think that what we've seen, comes close to what they are likely to cost - salary and or trade. If they were early 20s, I might be willing to back those who view their potential as enormous, but they are both at an age where you would expect them to be approaching their peaks.

He played 10 AA standard games last year 4-5 decent games this year and has been worthless otherwise.

But at 27, 198cms, he is ready to go for a premiership assault, if you could tap into the good (don't under estimate how sh1t Carlton are at developing players) might not be the worst move for a 10 pick downgrade.

I'll play the ball and not the man on this one, because to be honest offering Jones in any trade scenario for a downgrade of a first round pick is absolutely laughable.

The answer is no because I believe Jones plays his best when he peels off his man and intercept marks. He has been exposed badly this year one on one, and he has shown no awareness or match sense at times. A number of teams have exposed him this way, and at times Jones has completely ignored his man and got completely lost in transition.

I think in a really good team, with good one on one defenders, he could be quite dangerous playing as a peel off defender where he doesn't have to be accountable. But we have Jeremy Howe for that, and also Darcy Moore when fit. Scharenberg was doing the job well before injury. All these guys also can play man on man as well.

What we need is a genuine full back. Someone who can lock down a monster like Josh Kenney, Tom Hawkins. Tom McDonald, Ben Brown etc.

Lynden Dunn did the job well, but obviously as 30+ year old coming off a knee, I wouldn't be basing my future on him.

May is the "cherry on top" people. He is a need this off-season and not next.

A "settled" back line of May, Howe, Schaz, Maynard, Crisp & Moore with support from Langdon, McLarty and Dunn. Combine that with a stacked midfield and an exciting and unpredictable forward line (not to mention an AA Ruckman) and we're going places 2019.

Forget Lynch, he is not a need.

Its a real downer but Shaz won't be back in 2019. 3rd ACL done end of July and its a repeat operation. If he can squeeze some VFL into late 2019 will be a good outcome but more likely is aim for a comeback in 2020

I have no opinion on the picks trade but Jones fits in well with the way we defend imo. People might be giving you shit but it's not the dumbest thing I've read today.

Perhaps we should recruit Nathan Freeman for spare parts? I hear his ACLs are intact.

Handy backline, but unfortunately unlikely to see Shaz in 2019.

Langdon would get the nod.

B - Langdon May Maynard
HB - Howe Moore Crisp

Good combination of run and carry - Crisp & Maynard
Intercept marking ability but can also play on most types of forwards - Howe & Langdon
KPP to play on the likes of Kennedy, Hawkins, Brown, Franklin etc - Moore & May
