I can’t see how we get may this off-season
Yep, I reckon we'll wait until he's a free agent and keep working on him through out next year like the Tigers did with Lynch.

Hopefully we can string some kind of backline together for the long-term with Quaynor and Kelly while we wait for Dunn and Scharenberg to come back in the latter part of the season.

Problem with this is that 16 other clubs enter the race for him and we will have a Tom Lynch 2.0 scenario, no doubt in my mind that Lynch would have come to us at the end of 2017 if we could have got a deal done, it will be exactly the same as next year with May, another club with more cap space will get him next year 100% and by that stage he will be 28. The only way I'd want May to the Pies is if they can get a first rounder trade done this year, hopefully the threat of having their captain walk out again will force their hand and get us a good deal. Otherwise we should look elsewhere.

He was when he has that first 3-4 games but his one-on-one defending dropped away significantly after that - at the point where he was dropped he was pretty much all at sea (and it was a major factor in him being dropped).

Since he came back he was neither here nor there in one-on-ones but I don't think he ever had it in him to cover a quick agile small forward like rioli or Ryan.

If you are taking coke in the lead up to games it’s a fair chance you are all at sea during the week. I guess that vibe continued into the field.

If Moore does go to the Swans, any way we can chip in a three way with the Saints and try to nab their pick 3?

Spitballing:
Moore to Swans
Hannebery and (something from Pies)

Pick 3 to Collingwood.

Maybe Sydney can throw in another late pick for balancenif required.

If we can keep pick 16 could we add a sweetner to it for May?

May and pick 3 would be a good return for Moore, pick 16 and something else

16 and Moore for St Kilda's pick 3.

Let the May stuff sort itself out next year.

Pick 3 (probably pick 4 after Lynch compo) possibly gets us a King twin or someone else elite.

COLLINGWOOD has to ask the question of Hawthorn’s Jarryd Roughead.

As much as a development club such as Carlton would benefit from Roughead’s leadership and football wisdom, it would be much more enticing to join a premiership contender.

And the Magpies clearly loom as the perfect home as the club searches for more marking power after missing out on Gold Coast’s Tom Lynch.

Clearly, Roughy has more good footy left in him, as we saw in the qualifying final loss to Richmond on Thursday night.

He has clean hands, he kicks straight and knows exactly where to lead, even in his final years.

And Roughead would cost virtually nothing in terms of a draft pick swap at trade time.

Like Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis, he would be a free hit in that regard.

It seems awkward right now, just how things sit with Roughead and the Hawks.

Do they want him to hang around for next year?

It’s not altogether clear at Hawthorn, and you could understand why he may be a bit miffed about things at Waverley.

The 31-year-old played angry on Thursday night.

He’s a Hawthorn legend, but the door is clearly ajar for him to join another club, ala Mitchell, Lewis and Luke Hodge.

Roughead’s preference is to stay in brown and gold in 2019, as he has said a few times, and he is contracted for next season.

But he would be a dream get for Nathan Buckley, and Collingwood has shown it is most certainly in the premiership window.

And they clearly need Roughead’s type.

We need to very much hope Moore commits to the club and re-signs as we are entering our Premiership window and having to wait out 4 years of development for another highly rated junior key position talent is not the answer this trade period.

As it is if we were to trade in May but lose Moore we'd be making no net gain in terms of our already shallow kp depth so retaining Moore and adding May is the best case scenario.

Losing Moore and not securing May would be the worst case scenario and leave us horribly exposed in key position compared to our main competition for the flag in 2019.

Buddy hurting the cap?
Big time and Tippett. Swans have very little (read no) wriggle room when it comes to the salary cap. When clubs come offering $$$ to the likes of Parker, Lloyd, Heeney etc they are going to struggle to match. They won't want to lose Parker or Lloyd but happy to salary dump Hannebery who has been poor for two years

Thoughts on Michael Barlow ? Prob get for nothing ...
Perfect for a team looking to bolster midfield grunt & guidance for a young team.

A team like GCS would be perfect.:drunk:

With Murray all but certain to cope a 2 or 4 year ban I wonder whether someone like Jayden Hunt could be a useful target for us as he offers a lot of the same abilities.

He was a player I believe we liked in his draft year and after a promising 2016 season for Melbourne and a really good 2017 has seemingly fallen behind others as this year unfolded.

He'll be 24 when the season starts next year and is contracted until the end of 2020.

SHAKE THE TREE PIES

Kennedy and Tomilson fits two huge needs both with plenty of football infront of them.
